Best laptop for around 400? Any lenovo experts?

I have had 2 Lenovos now, one a newer model and it's pretty lovely but literally falling apart and I'm blue screening. The last computer I bought was a Toshiba and I loved it except for the sound was equivalent to a 1987 Ford Econoline van.

I have the other Lenovo here, I just can't get it working and don't have time, so I need to buy something as my main computer.  I have a 500gig SSD drive I can put in it (ideally 2 bays for SSD).  Open for Mac or PC.  It's hard shopping online without interacting with it!  I'll primarily be using this for graphic design.

Thanks!!

Honestly, if you had a Thinkpad that you like, you might just want to go on eBay and buy another one. Old models are good and cheap. I had a high-end x220 that I bought new for like 3 grand in 2011. It got killed by coffee so I replaced it with an identical one for $200 and put in my old hard drive and was up and running again. I'm posting from it now. Performance has gotten good enough that you really don't need to pay a big premium for the latest hardware unless you have specialized requirements or more cash than you know what to do with.

However, blue-screening is not necessarily an indication of a hardware problem. It's possible you could do a clean install of your operating system and revive that computer. That would be my first recommendation.
