Absolutely, I want to get up to that point for sure.  I just want to " get to know " the process of making / using agar, And be sure I am making clean and strong mycelium.

I confess I never cared for pasty plates. Started with petris, and will finish with petris.

Don’t know if I ever want to start with petris.  1/2 pint no pours have done nicely

Pasty plates are tha bomb. It's a very cheap and effective way to get into agar. 20$ worth or mini rounds and 20$ worth or agar and LME and 3$ worth of micropore tape will keep you going for a long long time. My advice is pour them thin as possible. Not only will your supplies last longer but it helps to see any contams through the bottom. Also, make a lot at once and let them sit before you use them. That will help with condisation.

I confess, pre poured petris delivered @ the door..

I work too much to be pouring dishes when they are available for 50 to 60 cts. When low on cash: boil a potato and make lc out of the diluted cooking water. One petri can grow you endless mushrooms (potentially   )

Not worl load so much as it is your technique and equipment

If your still new in your technique and you have only a SAB I'd start with no pours. If you have a flowhood do whichever

If you know how to use a sab properly you don't need to start with no pours. They are nice when you're broke tho

I work 7 days a week and i still find time to pour a sleeve of plates. It takes 1 hour out of the 180 in a week to pour plates... youre wasting your money. I used to use prepoured plates too untill i realized that i spent 100 dollars on 40 plates. I spent the next 80 dollars on 500 petries, LME, and agar, and i now have plates for the year. also dont have to order and wait for the mailman when i need to do an emergency transfer.

I can see that but I don't pay 2,50 a plate.. only like 60 cts, shipping included. Usually buy 60 at once. Last me a couple of months. Cost: 18 euros per month. Idk how much time pouring takes? but if it is over one hour per 20 plates I fail to see why I should bother. There will also be a learning curve, failed attempts, etc. whereas the ones I buy are always clean and ready to use at any time.

If I round my cost per petri up to $0.20 then every 1000 petris cost me $200. At $0.60 that total cost would be $600. I confess I'm about to order another 500 petris instead of a Tool ticket.

No offence guys but you suck at confessions.  $.060 a plate and they come clean and you only need to buy once in a while.  Go for it.  Life's too short to argue over what someone else wants to spend their money on.

I confess....... this is the last day of work for 6 days!!  I'm going to be going out of town until Thursday.
My confession is that I am super excited to go visit my special friend but part of me is really going to miss staying home and watching mycelium spread in my aquarium ps.cyan grow.  Wonder if the airline will let me take it as my carry on??  My roommate will definitely have to send updated pics!

(To my special friend who will probably read this.....you are worth leaving it for, you're a myco nerd so you know where it's at! :awesomenod: )

Major Confession: I had a qp of dried shrooms in a ziplock and apparently I left it about 1/4" open... went to go to use the bag and everything was soft :uhoh: This has me set back a little, but I'm growing a fuck ton right now, so I'm not worried. To stop this from happening again I bought a "Food Saver" impulse/vacuum sealer (the vacuum doesn't work when sealing bags, fyi).

So, yeah, don't leave your bags open kids!

I confess I had a shoebox I prepped following shaper's tek (fucking love it!) I used either 1.5 pints or 2 pints of bacterial spawn (oats) and I got just under an OZ dry! (About 3/4 of an OZ over 3 or 4 flushes so nothing special) but the real awesomeness was when I dumped the sub into my compost bin and lo and behold it's colonizing AND fruiting!

At first I was like "That's not my tek! Wtf are those pictures"

priorities. i paid $220 for mine and would do it again in a heartbeat. i'll reuse my petris to pay for it.
