I'm pretty sure that philosophy wasn't meant to mean you should break up with someone and see if they come crawling back. Moreso that you shouldn't try to hold someone down if they aren't about that life

You nailed it. My ex was talking about a woman of color who failed HS biology and later got her college degree in biology. Men who fail, apparently fail for all time and have no intrinsic value.

They could have PCOS or some other condition that men don't have to deal with. Both sexes are vain, and that's fine and rooted in biology. Not judging someone and putting up with their crap or trying to find them attractive are different things.

Will we ever evolve to the point we no longer view the end of a relationship as failure? Probably not. Will we ever evolve to the point we don't take our partners decision to leave the relationship as rejection or being "dumped"? Probably not. If we stop loving our partners who choose to leave us, we never truly loved them to begin with. We should celebrate the fact they had the courage to choose to do what was best for them.

you can only end a relationship by steering clear of all relating with that individual.

if you are still in any form of contact, the relationship continues.

if the contact is uncomfortable, then the relationship has problems but it is still a relationship.

this includes being chased or chasing the one running away (like stalking - a bad relationship)

what you choose to call the relationship, steady or changing, is up to the people involved.
