my mom took down this wreath that was on our door after a pair of house finches who had a nest there chicklings hatched and flew away. There was two nests there though. I told her so but she took it down anyway. Well i just found smashed bird eggs on the ground  I'm so sad! Two of them are not smashed. Any chance for survival?

you know jenny, i sent you that pm about incubating the eggs... but i just had another idea. Some birds will sit on eggs wether there theirs or not. Im not sure housefinches will, but its worth a shot. If you can find another HOFI's nest, i say go for it, especially if there are more eggs in there. Worst case senario, the occupants of that nest will just push the eggs you put in out... i say go for it. And if you try this, def. let me know how it works for you.
on another note, house finches really arent worth saving from a conservatist standpoint. Theyre an introduced species that shouldnt be here anyway like starlings... they actually do more bad than good.
