The airflow on the meter shows 160-180 f/m when it should be 100.  Bod said do the lighter test which I can see its 90 degrees.  Im running the fan at half power.

I had a couple of mold spores on e few clone plates and a little bacteria but im just tuning in.

I have built a small lab room and will move this to it soon so hope it will rock.

180 fpm is perfctly  fine, I have a fan speed controller on mine and it blows from 90- 200. I usually run it around 150. Anywhere between 90-300 is supposed to work. Slower is slighot more laminar but effectively doesnt make much of a difference

Moving the hood isnt gonna make the mold thing change, it will probably take a while for you to adjust to the new technique,dont open those mold plates in front of the hood while its running, save them for last and do them real quick after you shut off the fan, or bust out the sab

Working with plates is so much less stressful in front of Hood.....Breezy.

I did a plate test for an hour and its still clean 2 weeks later.  Its great when confidence levels are high.

Morning kids, its school time again!!!!

I built a room in my shed for the hood which is 2 square meters.

How long would it take the beast to clean the air in this room?

2 meters sq only gives us the floor, we need height of the room too.

Figure out how many cubic feet in the room and how many cubic feet per minute your fan is rated for. Should be pretty easy math

You can figure one full air exchange every minute.

Once a week I'll take a air blower and air jet the walls floors ceiling just to stir up the air while my flow hood is running. It helps to scrub the total area of contaminates. It's good to have a well sealed door.

I never scrubbed the air I just turn it on and work I wipe everything down while it's running and load the table .. if your hood works properly there should be no need to scrub the air around you ..

The flow is supposed to keep all unwanted air away from you while giving you clean air to work in

The room is 2 meters high.

I get that you can work in front of a hood without doing any air scrubbing but if you want to work with lots of bags and do allot of work its best to do this.  Obvs for a stack of petri dishes and some g2g you can get straight to work  but Id prefer a little scrub just to make sure.

I have and things are coming along nicely.  I got to the stage with the SAB where I wasnt enjoying it.  Now I look forward to lab sessions.

Thanks, Im just about to put a flooring down and tidy the wall up a bit.  Id like it to be all white as its great for visuals when working.

But, if im being totally honest Id prefer a 36 inch wide  instead of 24
