So stones already in there are fine as long as the sub in intact

Nice.... Great information on a bulk stone Technique . I have some jars that are moving real slow . They are not contaminated. I am curious that the polyfill may be too tight on my jars. I broke up 2 jars  recently and the grains did not seem to dry. They were in my opinion perfect as far as using the grains to spawn with. Are the grains(to grow stones) better to be on the Dry/Wet side ? Polyfill ? Temp to low LOL I am not looking for a definative answer . I am looking for your opinions . Thanks  |
I am a noob to stones. But not the various mycology practices of growing.I am more of a reader on the page and do not comment much. Thanks

Stones can take up to a month or 2 to form.  It looks like spawning to a shallow substrate is the best way to get more stones.  I am hoping to run side by side tubes with spawn from the same G2G expansion to see which ratio spawn to sub gets me a better return.

Also we discussed the fact that bacterial jars stoned earlier than clean jars?

I also remember us chatting about colonising in the dark.  Where are we with this atm?

Stones are a survival strategy so bacteria contams could very well be a trigger for their formation.  My guess is the restricted light idea is based on the fact that stones are subterranean.

So when spawning you might not get that clean mushroom smell and something a little sweeter

Expanded to 8 more quarts with 2 small stones in the spawn.  Hoping its good enough to ratio test....

100% colonise and then can you case with coir as peat it hard to find here and I find compost have too many microbes in them and I have never been able to make it happen.

Coir will work fine.  I use a seed starter which is a blend of coir and peat.

No....it’s coir.  They’re just calling it peat.

What kind of yields do you get out of these strains fruit wise? Everyone posts their stone weights but how many dried grams of mushrooms do you average per qt of spawn? Obviously it will vary a lot depending on genetics but I'm just looking for a ballpark figure, like how 1oz/qt with cubes seems to be standard.

Some say so.  I never found them to be crazy strong....I’d say on par.
