Found it burrowed in leaves on the edge of a sand driveway along a fence with oak suckers and pines nearby...

check out these see what you think. Macowanites luteolus. Leucogaster rubescens. The book I have has some similar but doesnt show those root like structures.

Weird though I have looked at a few species that look somewhat like it but the inside of this one is a gelatin type texture and I'm not finding anything with a root system like it either almost makes me wish i would have cut out the ground under it and kept it wet
