my need for the bandana and hiding from the sun all summer has been due to getting laser hair removal
had to avoid a tan for it to maximimze effectiveness (my heart goes out to dark-skinned people who don't even get the option)
and in the days immediately after each monthly appointment, had to keep the lasered skin covered up to prevent permanent splotch markings on my face

would argue the laser hair removal to be the best part of my summer, but the enjoyable part is the outcome of multiple sessions, rather than the memorability of any given session having my face zapped

Huh, I had no idea it was such a difficult recovery. I've heard it hurts like a bitch

it is more-or-less like having someone snap a rubber band against my face 40 or 50 times; it is annoying and makes me flinch over and over
but as someone who suffers from chronic pain it is a brief nuisance compared to my daily aches

part of the flinching may also be having light-blocking goggles on for the process; sometimes being unable to see and caught up in the unknowing anticipation of something makes it more severe to experience

to my comprehension, will have to go for some sort of laser hair removal on my genitalia in order to facillitate the operation
kind of thinking a sensation like a rubber band snapping against testicles is going to be more of an issue

also also,
figure that if my approval had gotten through for my hormone treatment earlier, the laser would be more painful due to increased sensitivity of skin
am going in for another 6 months of treatment for my face, and hopefully going to get onto hormone therapy sometime in September barring further issues
so may find out the hard way yet
Dx

I had no idea you were trans, the laser hair removal makes a lot more sense now. I've heard hormone treatment is pretty intense, actually changes your personality to an extent. Plus once you start, stopping becomes a nightmare.

I'm not proud of it like those weird people at the parade, but I'm not afraid to admit I'm pretty glad I'm just a straight dude. A friend of mine from college came out as trans, which was definitely a moment of "Oooooooohhhhh that explains a lot." He went through a lot of identities before he settled on trans. We had a falling out for totally unrelated reasons before he figured it out. We were both going through some shit, I'd imagine that contributed to our conflict quite a bit.

Good luck with your treatment, I hope it goes as smoothly as can be expected

thank you for the well wishes
smooth is my hope for my face -- am already past having a 5'o'clock shadow and most of my face stays smooth for a good 24+ hours after shaving
the moustache and goatee area still developing stubble are my main reason for qualifying for another 6 months treatment at all
would love to not have to shave at all any more; did not get on hormone therapy soon enough to solve that tho, so burning them off is the next best thing

Do recognize the very real concerns involved with the hormone therapy -- honestly my biggest concern tho is not that stopping will be difficult
but rather, in the case that the world faces a doomsday scenario, my body won't be able to handle a lack of access to medical hormones :uhoh:

Well it's my understanding that before the SR surgery you have to stop hormones anyway because of the high risk of blood clots.

Consider it practice for doomsday

that had not been previously conveyed to me, but thanks for the heads up
something to talk to the endo and/or thereapist about on my next appointment(s)

in an unfortunate irony, it is the antithesis of practice for the doomsday scenario
my concern comes from an understanding that post-surgery the hormones will be necessary because the body will no longer produce naturally
stopping pre-surgery will be personally distasteful, but "at least" not dangerous

to be fair tho -- the fact that my worries about living post-apocalypse hinge more on hormones than immediate concerns like reliable clean food prolly indicates that this is ultimately tied in more to gender dysphoria than legitimate fear for my health and well-being

My plans for the zombie apocalypse are to just get bitten early on and get it over with. Unless it's a Rage zombie from 28 Days Later. Fuck that, I will take the creepy Christopher Eccelson military camp. Especially if I get to hang out with that hot black girl, ill definitely kill a few zombies for that opportunity... Wait what were we talking about?

Oh right, well you can always raid a pharmacy. Side bonus, you could probably get just about anything for some oxy and amoxicillin. Solving the food problem and the hormone problem in one fell swoop

I liked the nice hot weather. It felt good, reminded me of when I was a kid.

There was one time when I was just walking to my car in the hot sun. Had to be over 100. It was really beautiful and peaceful and weirdly cleansing. Kindof like a sauna. There were some trees nearby, and the smell of dry dirt and leaves and bark and green things.

That's probably my favorite memory of the summer, just walking to my car that day in the hot sun.

Was reading a paperback of Paluknuk or however you spell it in paperback on my trip and it got to be to much for transgenderism.  The whole process in Invisible Monsters.  Haunting was something and it's just Chuck.

Why I brought this I will never know but as the O.P. the vibe, like a wave, seems to have a flow.

I lost 50 lbs, biked over 4,000 miles, tailend of major depression, & kicked of magical grows in a legal state.

Summer of 2019.

While the rest of the world looses their shit I'm slowly fixing mine.

I remember when
I remember, I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that place
Even your emotions have an echo in so much space
And when you're out there, without care
Yeah I was out of touch
But it wasn't because I didn't know enough
I just knew too much
Does that make me crazy?
Does that make me crazy?
Does that make me crazy?
Possibly
And I hope that you are having the time of your life
But think twice
That's my only advice.

Come on now, who do you
Who do you, who do you
Who do you think you are?
Ha ha ha, bless your soul
You really think you're in control?
Well
I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
Just like me.

God, drugs use to be so simple.  How times have shifted.  So what is some fun you had if you care to share.  Just bored, waiting to go gamble.  Lol.  It is a long wait.

Spontaneous BBQ party at a friend's house in another town, musician friends jamming together, sitting by the fire basket till the early morning hours on a trip as the last one standing, took the intercity bus home in the morning, still tripping substantially

Lol.  It is always interesting when the sun comes up and getting on a bus.  I don't even care if I look normal.  I just sit and observe with a massive grin on my face and say nothing.

Sounds like you had a great few days.  Summers go by and the warm weather way to fast to me.

Sitting on the pier on my tiny vacation with the wife, already high as balls and just watching the boats, water, and people as we puff on weed like no tomorrow in front of a beach full of on-lookers. It's legal, but we were high and this is all new so it was a rush. And we felt real nice too.

I fucked my entire summer by skateboarding after a 5 year hiatus.  Sprained my ankle so badly my fuckin foot spun backwards 180 degrees, it's been over 10 weeks and I can finally jog on it with dull pain, I am wishing the next 3+ months away because it's literally painful to move still though.

I did land a dream job with my degree though that pays out the ass so that's been the highlight.

Lol.  Yeah, skateboarding.  I use to just lay down on my Tony Hawk I was so proud of and go flying down a side walk on a steep hill with no fear.  Learned later how dangerous it was but being younger, had no fear.

My twin broke up with his girlfriend when she was skateboarding and broke her ankle or something more.  She was basically bedridden with a cast, drinking and taking pills and would speak to him in the most mean spirited way. And I am like, why do you take this shit?  And after awhile he didn't.

I hate the healing process.  I walk, jog, play sports, hike long distances, etc.  When I fuck up my body, something so simple as dancing and getting a minor stress fracture in my foot, or hiking from one end of Oregon to the other and waiting for my feet to heal now, I hate it.

Patience and time but it drags.

On to Fall shortly.  Will be ready physically and mentally.  I will never skateboard again, ever.  But to each their own.

No, me fuckin neither, I am on my feet 12 hours straight for my shifts and I am a weightlifter so I haven't touched a barbell in over 10 weeks now, I only just became able to squat down low enough to grip a bar without excruciating pain again and who the fuck knows how long it will take to start back squatting.  Lesson learned Barnaby, lesson learned.  I'm just staying positive, at least it was not worse.

Well at least your positive about it.  My toes with the highest quality hiking boots, I lift to by the way, doing 18-22 miles a day on average and thought about seeing a doctor but I am pretty good at foot goop, cutting with scissors medical adhesive, and then wrapping it with bandaids.

I got lost off the trail, P.C.T. and just didn't give a shit, was like an endless maze of trees with endless backtracking.  Afraid I was going to lose a toenail and one nail digged so far into the other it almost reached the bone.

Getting home less then a week ago from PDX and cutting skin off my feet and my knee is a bit fucked up but all of this will heal.

That is the thing.  If you know it will heal in time.  For those with degenerative diseases and injuries that never heal I can't imagine not having that hope that your body will recover.  Never really does fully, lol, but close enough is good enough for me.  Glad you are taking it well and best to you. I don't like pity party people and avoid them.

Taking a long break from my vacation schedule.  Amazing how aware one becomes of one's body when out of media for 20 plus days.  My senses are so keen and awareness.  It is why I do it even though I fucked this one up.  But I heal.  I feel like a fucking animal man.  They just accept it and do their best to heal.  In the moment, no poor me shit.
