That is indeed the tradeoff, less pins = bigger fruits.
That's a great looking PE, it prints great I assume?
There is this visual pleasure one gets from seeing a big ass donger of a mushroom growing (had some the size of my forearm), and an equally gratifying sensation occurs when one plucks such a mushroom from the tub. That one is still a good size, but big, big ones for all practical purposes from drying, to storage, to bag presentation, to being the end consumer (it is never as nice to chew the big ones up "here take a bite out of this giant hard dry thing" assuming they are just being eaten and you don't do something else with them) they suck IMO.
I love the way the big boys look and feel, but as soon as that breif gratification is over I'm not a fan. What flush did that come off of?

I have done a lot of drugs that tasted awful the first time but I grew to love and desire that taste over time. Mushrooms are not one of those. It has never grown on me and is still a chore to choke them down. As such, any big chunky fuckers I get I break up and make tea with. Even the smaller ones I break\chop up and wash them down like pills. I wish I liked them, and I'm still trying to learn to like them, but yeah....for now they all suck to scarf down.

Me too

Back in my younger days I would always tell people getting caught up in the caps over stems thing "okay I will trade you my caps for your stems, no scale, just straight across..."
I keep all the ugly shit (stumps, blobs, whatever) for teas, edibles, and private stock.

2nd flush. They've been dropping a shit-ton of spores.
I agree I'd take a canopy over sparse monsters. If I could get a decent cluster I'd start cloning. I think my problem lately with pin sets is over-hydration of Subs. My grow room is really humid was two GH's running on Exotics and edibles. Cube shoe boxes start out real nice and then surface go to shit with a lot of condensation. I just spawned one today with an under hydrated sub we'll see how that goes.

I had two amazing pin sets and bottom watered did everything I could to keep it going and they still aborted. I thought I finally found the right clone. Clusters are insane but then they stay small And many abort no matter what so I stopped being obsessed with pinset and gave in

Haven't posted in a while, but I do have a few small batches growing. Spawned and forgot these back on 8/6. These KSSS were from a ufo print, but no spaceships here.
And this MS culture is from a not-ape spore print.
A previous box from the same culture put out these,
so I'm interested on how this box is gonna turn out.
Nice grows all!

I would guess you're manning your sub over field capacity

I made it drier like way dry. Got an awesome pin set, then bottom watered and had aborts. The other one just left alone mister a bit and aborts. No matter how I do it. But I’m just over it because I still get the same end yield whether I have a super dense pinset with smaller fruits or less larger fruits.
This is two that started good
