Yeah I mean if you need to start and & finish grain I. A few hours boiling is the way to go but if you got time and are about labor reduction I don’t think it gets much easier than this. Not to mention this saves on energy

Thanks for the input, sorry for going off topic. Soon I can contribute to this thread with pictures. Just waiting on agar transfers to do its thing. Gathering as much info as I can to get a successful grain run going.

works well?
i always though of spreading them to avoid the center not draining correctly ;
Oh yeah works perfectly. I used to hate running grain it took for ever made the house or hot was a huge pain in the ass now I just add the grain and water in a 5 gallon bucket let sit overnight pour into the screen hang up to dry let drain all day load into jars and pressure cook that evening it’s so simple I hardly notice it anymore. And I hardly lose any jars using hot water I always had at least a few that were over hydrated and would turn to mush
very interesting , so no hot water at all ? just soak overnight and hang the day after?
i use wheat , i wonder if it would get hydrated enough , i used to do the overnight soaking THEN boil for a brief time to get them plumped up ,
i will try it for sure

 It'd be kinda cool if I could clone that pin and get a bunch of upside down mushrooms.

Haven’t posted in a while. Started DJing again and have been slammed.
First batch of the cluster clone I took from one of my last batches of the PE variation I’m working with. Pic is from yesterday and they were spawned on 8/15. Not bad for 9 days. Seemed like it took forever for the grain to colonize but it’s moving fast now.

Looks like I’ll have some nice clusters to clone from this batch as well. Gonna keep working to increase the yield.
Also working a Hualta de Oaxaca clone I’m working with that had a 12% wet~dry ratio. :-)

I have several plates that I will likely never do anything with but I am keeping them going because they were kinda cool in some way and I might one day. Might as well....

Lol I have quite a few I've done that with as well. Trouble is I'm running out of room in my minifridge. Every time I add some things I end up havinng to toss some out. I've also turned my focus to exotics for the time being. Really excited about those

Put a jar to the side awhile back since it was taking longer than the others. Promptly forgot about it, found this morning sucker still fully colonized and is fruiting anywhere it possibly can thought it was pretty neat.
