Serious question re: Pins under my first flush pull or leave alone? My first grow

Ok so yesterday I pulled my first flush harvesting 22.46 g on the first flush of my first grow. Beneath those big caps is an extensive set of pins. Uite a large group of them ( see before n after pics below.)

I went to a class on monotubs yesterday andI asked about the carpet of pins beneath my first flush. The person leading the class says I should pluck them out and rehydrate my tub and cake with a good soak.

The good soak I agree with because my substrate is quite dry.

But Im questioning why I should ( or should not) pull the small undergrowth of pins that were beneath my canopy of the first flush.

What say you?

Based on pics below woukd you pull those pins and soak the tub or would you soak the tub and leave the pins alone?

BTW they did not show significant growth in size from yesterday they are pretty much the same size.

I would pick the bigger pins and leave the small ones. I think it’s more of a personal preference.

in my limited experience, if the tiny pins are left on, they will abort after the dunk anyway :shrug:

Ok after looking at YouTube and some reading I decided to pulls the pins (aborts) . While doing this I noticed some greenish growth that yiu can see in the pic in the right side about in the middle of the tub against the edge and on left side against the edge about 2 inches from the end and on top left about 2.5 inches from left end. I scooped those spots out with a spoon that I wiped wirh isopropyl alcohol. Praying I stopped any further contamination. Then I poured some distilled water onto the cake to just above the top. Gonna let that soak for an hour. See pic below of scooped out material and please comment regarding contaminants.

I don't have the exact thread this is from because I copied a bunch of info from Roger Rabbit and put it in a word doc but here's what he says about it. Hope this helps

ABORTS
Grey or black heads indicate aborts. Pins that have stopped growing but have normal color are NOT aborts and should not be picked.
It's common for many species including cubensis to set all the primordia for the first few flushes when primordia for first flush is set.
They stop growing until their time comes, at which time they kick into gear again. If you pick them, you ruin future flushes.

It was free in support of the decriminalize California campaign and I got a free glove box and monotub out of it and got to field some of my questions about growing aspects I needed illumination on. So yeah maybe you think its lame but overall I enjoyed the experience and also the opportunity to advance yhe campaign was satisfying. Somthere.

Oh no...not lame at all just was like...huh? :lol:

I wouldn't recommend the glove box tho

It is lame if they gave out gloveboxes. STILL air boxes are far more effective:shrug:

A class on doing things the proper way but they give out wrong/outdated info.

I use glove box and still air box interchangeably It was a 64 quart clear sterlite tub with two large holes big enough for a hand each so in my mind its the same thing.

If it's mold the whole thing will be toast in a few days.

I do see some greenish stuff in the spoon picture, but it's hard to make out for sure in the picture.

I usually see second flush pop within a week of harvesting first flush
