Death and age

The older I get the more i fear death. Not the pain or the how, but the people I’ll be leaving behind. In my teens and early 20s I did not give a fuck. I was fearless and cared about no one including myself. I was ready to leave. Now, I can’t even think about dying without feeling emotion.

What do you believe about death? As an atheist I don't fear it at all. I'm not that important, when I die the world will keep turning. And I will feel nothing, my matter and energy will return from whence it came and I will stop the ceaseless running that is life. To fear literally nothing seems illogical. I would rather be dead than suffer. Fuck cancer. My perfect death scenario, guy robbing a bank, threatens a baby with a gun, I wrestle the gun away and he shoots me in the head while another guy uses the distraction of the struggle to bonk him with a potted plant, then the baby falls on my corpse to soften the fall

It's just another chapter to me. I don't think it ends. So death to me is just a new start. I don't find that scary. I want to prolong and enjoy my time, certainly. But it's a natural process and if literally everyone else can manage I'm sure I can to.

I'm kinda super curious what will happen given my extensive dealings with spirits.

One thing will happen for sure, my main Spirit Guide will be there, waiting for me.

On my way to becoming One with Everything with the pre-Big Bang Singularity at the beginning of time, fully quantum entangled with the totality of everything (aka. Heaven/God), I do hope we make a little detour to my Pure Land, I have some buddies there I'd love to meet.

When your clock stops, you fall back into the Singularity pre-big bang for lack of time separating you out of it, ya.

Its actually really groovy.

Time separates us from becoming One with All Things, and that separation will fall away.

For me it's the other way around.  I'm more afraid about how long and painful it will be when i'm in the process of dying.  It could be pretty quick or more drawn out like with a cancer diagnosis or something.

I believe in the collective consciousness. I think it all ebbs and flows out of a pool of energy. I don't think we are as amazing and special as we think we are. The ocean currents are energy that comes from nowhere but pure physics, the moon and the sun and the rotation of the earth all intertwining in complex patterns. I think consciousness is similar, it's just beyond our comprehension to grasp how it works. I think other animals have a better connection than we do. Fish and birds for instance, their ability to travel as a single unit is because they can tap into this energy. I believe we evolved out of that connection for the same reason whales evolved out of having legs, we no longer needed it for survival.

Definitely. I wonder if maybe sex breaks down the barriers we put up in our minds to help us survive this cruel world. In my best sexual experiences I lost the ability to define where I ended and she began, similar to how psychedelics make you lose sense of self being separate from not-self

My gran is in a nursing home and last time I went to see her she hardly recognised me and she looked so frail, it really upset me to see her that way.

My grandad has his wits about him but last time I saw him hes like fuck this shit let me die. He had tumours removed at Christmas and hasn't been well since. After i seen him in April He fell and broke his hip. He had operations and had to stay in hospital but my auntie messaged my dad the other day to say his condition is really bad and he'll literally be dead in a couple of weeks.

I don't want to live in to my 90s, fuck that noise.

Awww man. I hear you though. I figure around mid to late 80's for me. I just want to go to sleep, a very looooong sleep. I don't want to be feeble in mind or body.I bet in another 20-30 years assisted "suicide" will be in place in clinics all over the planet, hopefully.

God damn that sounds really awful.  I think if I'm in that situation I'll just get a doctor's help with assisted suicide.  I'm too afraid of fucking it up if I tried it myself.

I sort of knew when I went home in April itd likely be the last time I see them. I hadn't been home for years before that and I feel bad because they were such a big part of my life growing up. When I told my gran I was moving to Ireland she started crying lol and I know she always worried about me and my dad never told her I was a raging alcoholic when she asked about me lol.

I was thinking about assisted suicide the other day. Like say I was in a car accident or something or had an illness that left me with severe brain injuries where I couldn't speak or write or communicate. I've no idea what level of consciousness people with those sorts of injuries have. Like would I be in my wheelchair thinking fuck I'm hungry or fuck its warm or are you literally just a breathing shell of a human?

Anyway if I was in that condition in sure I wouldn't be sat there going fuck this is great I'd probably be going know what fuck this shit I want out.
Who the fuck has the right to tell me I cant end my life in those circumstances, and even worse prosecute anyone who assisted me in doing it.

See : Johnny Got His Gun (Movie)

Joe Bonham (Bottoms), a young American soldier hit by an artillery shell during World War I, lies in a hospital bed. He is a quadruple amputee who has also lost his eyes, ears, mouth and nose. He remains conscious and able to reason, but his wounds render him a prisoner in his own body. As he drifts between reality and fantasy, he remembers his old life with his family and girlfriend (Kathy Fields). He also forms a bond, of sorts, with a young nurse (Diane Varsi) who senses his plight.

Eventually, Joe tries to communicate to his doctors, via Morse code by tapping his head, saying "help." He wishes for the US Army to put him in a glass coffin in a freak show as a demonstration of the horrors of war. When told that his wish may be impossible to grant, he responds begging to be euthanized, repeatedly saying "kill me."

He ultimately realizes that the Army can grant neither wish, and will leave him in a state of living death. His sympathetic nurse attempts to euthanize him by clamping his breathing tube, but her supervisor stops her before Joe can succumb. Joe realizes that he will never be released from his state of entrapment and he is left alone, weakly chanting, "S.O.S. Help me."

Metallica used clips of it for that "one" song. Someone watched that metallica vid on LSD and freaked out on the whole thing when they saw it, lol. He was a bonehead anyway. I think he never tripped again as far as I know.

I watched Eraserhead with no warning of what I was about to watch, stoned out of my mind, and that was probably the scariest film experience of my life. If life were like Eraserhead I would be assisting my own suicide right now

There is nothing wrong with thinking about death, fear whether neccessary or not shows your love of life.

I do not fear death more as I have got older, but I definitely think about it increasingly.
Maybe it's not fear maybe its something that can help you now.

Thing is, assisted suicide only qualifies for patients with a terminal illness.  So we might still be screwed if it's not terminal, but we're in an insane amount of pain and a shell of a human being.  Is your Grandpa on some good painkillers at least to lesson the suffering?  And if he is then does it get rid of most of the pain?  If they were getting rid of most of the pain then I might just ride it out.

Yeah that's also something I'm really worried about.  And that might not quality for assisted suicide and even if it did, we wouldn't be able to request it.

I am 32 and I do think about death a bit. I have no idea what happens. I was an atheist for 10 years and still am but mushroom and lsd experiences have got me wondering about life and death in a different way. I think if we do exist in anyway after death I believe all memory of this life would be gone.

It’s the familiarity factor when going deep on mushrooms almost of a place I have been to many times.

Think back.. do you remember what it was like before your dad railed your mom? I think this is what you should expect. Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

People use an afterlife type scenario to help cope with life. It's scary to think about dying and it's even scarier to think about leaving behind all that you love. Let it be people, drugs, sex, or even the shroomery.

Time becomes in issue as well. Believe me when I say, the older you get the faster time flys by. I never not once thought this was a true statement until I fell into my 30s. I don't care how young and cool and healthy you are, age will find you. It will poke holes in you slowly and you will begin to leak out time.

I'm getting off subject now.

But yeah. I don't believe in an afterlife and I don't believe in a higher power.

I do want to add one thing. A question that has always bothered me. A statement that has fucked with me for years.

You cannot create nothing out of something. Let's say God is real. Where did god come from? Where did the created come from?

I feared it a lot when I was a small child but mostly other people that I knew dieing

Like when my mom would go out , sometimes it would make me cry as a little kid because I would be nervous if she was coming back

my family would always watch Detroit news and half of them are from there / worked there , maybe hearing those news stories did it

kind of like how a dog can be , I understand them a bit

I would hide go cry my cat would find me and make me feel better

Dont feel that way anymore

Nah. I'm no longer an edglord atheist. Vaguely agnostic. Not gonna pretend I know what's on the other side. Hoping for trees near where I die and something waiting for me afterwards. Nothing fucks with me harder than non existence, even if I'm not there for it.

I too am agnostic.

Honestly, I don't thing there is an afterlife or a new start once dead. It's fucking chaotic out there in the outter spaces. That last statement has nothing to do with anything. Just wanted to let you know.

I think the passage of time is less worrisome when you take the time to fill it with meaningful experiences. People really only care about time when they feel it's being wasted in some way.
