Pressure cooker troubles
    #26145513 -

Here's my problem.

I bought a presto 22qt pressure cooker, it has the three weights to regulate the psi but whenever I run it at 15psi I'll let a heavy flow of continuous steam escape the valve prior to placing the weight on but once the weight is on it never jiggles all I can hear is the hissing of steam escaping.

How can I tell if my pressure cooker is at 15psi if the weight doesn't jiggle....I adjust the heat to various levels and it does nothing.

Can someone tell me what the problem might be please, whenever I use wbs I'm getting bacteria even at 2.5hours so I can only assume the PC isn't operating at 15psi.

Help please

Is steam escaping elsewhere?

When I first ran my Presto, there was a loose valve on the rim of the lid that needed finger tightening. I actually ran it dry as this valve didn't close and I was losing a lot of steam.

A 22qt presto? 3 weights? No pressure guage? Have you read the manual?

It's not sealing properly, clean the seal and the inside of the lid where the seal sits and try again.

I read the manual before....this isn't my first rodeo but it is the 2nd time I've taken notice to the jiggler not jiggling, happened on a 22qt mirro I previously owned so this is two in a row from two different manufacturers to come straight out of the box with defects and the warranty is past due.

There is no pressure gauge (wish there was)
And steam escapes through one of the handles for picking it up.... I just didn't think that, that spot may be the source of my pressure leak and why it's not sealing properly.... I'll try removing the gasket and cleaning the lid.

Warranty is past due? You buy it used? I don't understand this purchase tbh. 23qt all day. Never even seen a 22qt. I have trouble with a little leakage as I build pressure sometimes on my well worn units. But I slap em round a bit and they work. Got any pics of the unit and even better showing the actual problem in action.

No pressure gauge on a pressure cooker? WTF?

Presto doesn't make a 22q mirro does.
Presto 23q has a gauge.

Presto 22q without a gauge doesn't exist.

Wondering if this has anything to do with OPs troubles lol

I bought a 22q mirro for my first grow.  Used it once and got so pissed off on dialing in to the correct pressure that I returned it the next day and got a 23q presto.  Never looked back

You just use the correct weight that's all the dialing in their is besides turning your stove down once it rattles

I got the at q size wrong then, must be a 23qt

And I may have the manufacturer's name mixed up since this pressure cooker does not have a gauge....it was around $180 so I didn't go the cheap route but it not regulating at 15psi has been a issue since I took it out of the box....the box had obviously been opened once before....could have been a return to the store or someone just snooping....

anyhow, I haven't tried adjusting the gasket yet, it's in there pretty tight and snug...

The mirro's gasket use to fall out all the time....didn't expect this to be a ongoing issue, I should have bought aa, that's all I can think about until I get this PC fixed.

oh i didnt read, my bad. yeah man, you gotta have a gage on your lid to know what pressure youre at. i recommend finding a All American Sterilizer, maybe thats used for cheap. i found mine at a garage sale. shits da bomb.
