@DcevLearn It comes down to ambient environment and were you put your tubs. Each tub tek has it's positives and fall backs. One example: I have a unmodified 100qt I use for 2nd and third flushes to free up tubs in my garage and it performs rather well. The lid has allot of air gaps and I get a good breeze flowing through the garage so it maintains it's self.
Unmodified work really well for me in the spring and fall months but when summer and winter rolls around they become a slight pain in the butt for me. It is ether too humid or to dry to just jimmy the lid or leave it on and walk away for half the day. Between stealthiness and laziness; unmodified shine in those areas. I don't even have to mess with the lid much in spring and fall with unmodified tubs.
I have also been thinking the top holes may not be necessary, for me, since the lids do not have a good seal anyways. I find the air gets in there enough to dry the outer parameters unless the ambient humidity is high. I'm gonna run two with just the bottom holes drilled in and one with both top and bottom.
IMO it boils down to Adapt dial in and overcome. I figure two more years and tub design will be an after thought for me in my current location. Learned allot of lessons from trial and error last winter.

What are your thoughts on casing in dry environments with this style of hole placement Pasty?

Casing rarely if ever hurts. I have seen very few cultures that didn’t like a casing. Casing with these is fine, just not a requirement.

The top hole clusters are centered at the top of the long sides. The first hole is drilled 1.5” below the purple handle. Then drill a hole one either side spaced out 1” - 1.25” on the centres. The second row is located about 1” below the fi rst one, drill two holes 1” - 1.25” apart, centered in relation to the top row. Done.
You do mean the top holes are on the short side, not the long right?
Cant wait to try
