Where do you get your hair cut? Do you use an actual barber or do you use a place like fantastic Sam's or a great clips?

I use a shop called Gino's that has 3 barbers working at once but its not a chain such as Supercuts

Went to a barber as a kid and he went overboard with the thinning shears.  He madebme look like a fag so I never went back.  Had another barber and don't recall much.

Did the saloon for awhile with ladies cutting hair.  Had long hair for years, and a dreadlock.

Now it's clippers at home myself.  Save $25 a month and even groom my dog.  We save almost $150 a month me grooming both of us.  I can cut my hair however and nobody to blame.

Sonetimes I have just buzzed it.  It's a bit longer up top top and sorta fagish.

had always gone to great clips and that other chain haircut place i can't remember the name of and was consistently displeased. Went to one barber and hated him even more. Went to another barber and finally got a good haircut

It's not gross at all.  Have a bad hair day and it's bootcamp buzz.  Actually people are impressed how well I groom my dog.

I feel it's a rip off to pay someone $25 dollars for a cut.  It might be a good cut for the first few times, then the girls start to just not care.  My hair looks good after I cut it and it's probably overdo again.

Plus the girls won't trim my pubes!

Do you use the same clippers? Need to be careful if you do, see if you cut yourself and get a bit of blood on them you could pass something on to the dog. Lol jk but the other way round though definitely you could get something.

Lol bill I saw your pic in the other thread. Your hair is buzzed right? You pay somebody to do that? Lol why, you could do it yourself in 5 minutes. Money aside you have like the simplest haircut possible and a 10 year old could probably do it for you as long as they leave the guard on the clippers

I’ve been cutting my own hair for about 12 years. It started with trimming my shoulder length hair down to a shaggy ear length hair cut. Then over the years I started going shorter and eventually just started using a 1” clipper to do the sides and back, and scissors to trim the top appropriately. Bare clipper to clean up the back and sides around the bottom and over the ears. Nobody could guess I cut it myself, looks like a regular guys side part hair cut.

I make enough money to pay for haircuts, that’s not what it’s about. It’s more that I always hated going in for haircuts and never felt like they did a good job anyway. If I can do it myself and put that money toward something else I’ll do it. I also change my own oil and I also sew my clothes when the seams come undone or whatever. Is that gross too princess bill?

I just swoop in randomly here; sometimes regular then take months off. However I've found myself agreeing more than not with Bill's posts in the last couple months that I have read but it is based purely on these limited amount of content/opinions I've read. Definitely pick up on some serious jealousy/hate by some that he openly said he was born into a "fortunate son" position. Took balls to admit where so few have.

On a Separate Note*
Shit with forums for every type of contracting work where there's lots of professionals both describing in detail and posting videos on how to perform the work yourself. If you have the money to do it, the majority of work has made it capable for almost everyone. And with Home Depot renting almost any piece of equipment you could need one could do it all themselves.


In the last 6-7 years I've learned to frame, drywall, tile anything (bathrooms, kitchens, floors) and plenty of others in huge part to all the details one would normally have to learn all through trial and error or shadowing someone. I was lucky enough to have basic/minimal hand-on training, but the internet provided detailed discussions on any unique job with pro's willing to help and compare their techniques and frequently with detailed videos (just like this wonderful community). It's given the "majority" of home design/development/re-modeling the option for anyone to do it if they want to put in the proper time.  30 years ago the public was so limited on information.

It's condescending, that's for sure. But jealous? It's a lameass comment is what it is. Its lazy, ignorant, and honestly pathetic. A guy should know how to "do it yourself." That's basic adulting let alone being a useful man. What is with internet people and being way tf off base? Jealous, lol. No I actually know how to work on my car and I'm proud of it :cookiemonster:

I shaved my head for about 10 years. I had long hair, got locked up, started shaving my head so I could fit in with the white supremacists, got kicked out because I wasnt white, got out of jail, and then continued to shave my head in memory of the good times I had with the WS. I think it's a weird thing to save money on. Its like once a month and like 15 bucks, I spend 3X the price of a haircut just having a few pints. Every time I meet people who do strange little things like this to save money they always seem to do stupid shit like order delivered food three times a week. Or take Uber/cabs everywhere. Or drinking Starbucks, instead of making your own coffee. I bet if I looked at your budgets I would see big glaring expenses you would save way more cutting out.

No way you do as good a job as a barber looking in the mirror, the people in your life probably just don't have the heart to tell you. How this got compared to doing home improvements or fixing your own car I am not sure. You should definitely learn to fix things yourself, that is real savings.

Anyway remember the vacuum attachment that cuts hair the flowbee?

Some people go 3 to 4 a month and go to actual barbers where it's more expensive.

You can see the dif in a great clips cut or whatever and a barber shop cut.

I went to an Arab owned barber shop the last couple times. They charge $18 for a cut and I don't think it's really worth it. The next closest place is Asian owned and while they charge $10 I don't like that I can't really tell them what I want and they're not as hip as the Arabs.

I should just look for a new place.

I used to use a mirror but I learned to feel it out and just go over it again. After that I get my wife to come in and get anything I missed which is usually just cleaning up the neckline. Takes maybe 5 min. Big beard, short hair. Tis the way

I almost got a Mohawk once, I just could not do it, Texas you know. I'm going to try letting my hair grow long again, I'm sure I'll get tired of it in spring. I would guess I'm 40-50% grey.

I use a barber. I've tried several in or near town and he by far is the best I've been to. Some "barbers" I've been to...well let's just say that it seemed like they just started cutting hair like a week ago. And these were highly rated barber shops on Yelp, too. Not a Pro Cuts or some shit. And my experience with the chain haircut places...not good. Not good at all.

My barber is pretty dope though, literally and figuratively. I've hung out with him a few times and when him and his uncle close the shop they'll bust out the beers and we'll kick it in the shop and drink and smoke. But he also has a little bit of an dope H so he misses work A LOT, and no matter what day you show up there's probably a 30 to 40% chance that he won't show up.

Hmm, 3 on the sides about 1 1/2 inches up all the way around, then blend the rest in to the top, do not cut a lot off the length, shatter the ends and give me a graduated perimeter, and it better be right! (trying to grow it out long again) yes, I'm a picky motherfucker with haircuts and I will pay 30-40 bucks, but I found a person at a pro cuts that does good work, finally!

I cut my own hair not to avoid paying money, but to avoid being around roads. I getting shaggy round this time tho, this thread almost has me tempted to break the cycle.

I havnt gotten my hair cut since last november, so some time this month itll be a year, my hair is kinda long now, and im balding in the front, so  it looks really weird, I could comb it over, but my hair fights brushes, if I dont use gel my hair only stays brushed for like 5 minutes before reverting to craziness and I dont like using gel, I dont really know what to do

Small amount of "finishing cream/paste" when towle dried, and let it dry with it in the shape you want, then comb it out.

Im going to give it a year before I buzz my hair, I started finesteride in October which for 100% sure prevent further balding, and in some rare cases bald spots grow back in, Im hoping im a rare case and the drug causes my bald spot to grow back in

the only side effect I got was lower libido, instead of masturbating every day, I do it now like every 2-3 days
