Hi, has anybody had any experience with fruiting galindoi/ATL#7 or mexicana/A in these monotubs? Do these provide enough FAE?
I searched everywhere but didnt find anything. I know tampanensis grow everywhere but i couldnt find anything about these other varieties

Thanks man

I don’t think I would modify the design at all, however I’ve not actually run bottles in one so I can’t really say for certain. I don’t want to speculate too much but I think provided you filled the chamber with bottles to capacity, it would be fine.

Thanks Pasty, guess it’s time for a side-by-side...
I’ll run your design vs one with bottom holes x inches above ziplock tops...
What is x on your tubs, how far are bottom holes above substrate surface?
Cheers!

The placement of the holes is in the writeup in the OP. I’m also not convinced the lower holes need to be above the height of the ziplocks. I’m not sure why the design needs to change.

I appreciate your reply.
Not sure the OP says anything other than 5” above bottom of mono. From pics looks like1-2” above surface.
I hope this is the best positioning for my conditions, cuz i can then do tubs and qt ziplocs without having two sets of tubs.
I have a terrible time keeping surface moist during fruiting in my location, so, for me getting a balance of air and rh is worth the experiment. Could be that since CO2 is heavier than air, having the holes below jar top is better than the reverse. Got 2 packed tubs on day 6 and 7, and a bunch of OP tubs, so perfect time to test.
Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Taping over the auxiliary holes seems to have improved things, thanks Pasty. I am worried about the pooling water in the bottom though. It's minor and slight but seems like it'd be a bacteria breeding ground.
Trying to think of how to rectify that situation right now with a drain hole but that leads to another problem of where to drain them to. Everythings easier when it's only a tub or two but scaled up no fuckin idea. Any absorbent additive to the bottom of the tubs under the bottle is going to pull moisture from the air as well. Will leave it for now and see if it's even an issue.
Don't know if you saw it yesterday but 324g wet from one of the very first bottles.
Mudatubs!

I’ve never worried about water in the bottom of the tubs. I’m sure it has bacteria in it but it’s no threat to a healthy colony.

I am using EZ dialed monotubs. I switched to 650 coir/3 qt vermiculite/4500 water. This substrate had 3 lbs. of spawn. I am wondering what might be causing the excess of white fuzz on the base of the stem, the cracking of the cap, generally thinner stems and smaller fruit, and some of the have this weird growth on the top?

That all looks genetic to me.
Sometimes they grow so fast the caps crack, the weird coral looking growth is called rosecomb it’s super common.

It’s normal. Sometimes it can indicate elevated CO2 however even fruits grown outside will sometimes have a little fuzz.

I had changed the recipe of the substrate to 3 qt vermiculite and 4500 water. I thought it may have to do with that. First flush on the first two tubs not giving me much grater yield. One was same at about 850 fresh the other 1120. I have some more that are not ready yet, waiting to see how they turn out.

Crawl spaces are almost always vented. Most radon problems seem to be slab on grade, at least where I'm from.

Are there any adjustments needed if you want to downsize a tub? Let's say like a 30l tub

A particularly stubborn RW tub that refuses to pin, spawned 11/17

I have a tub I spawned on 10/23 that hasn’t pinned yet. About ready to toss it, I’ll try flipping the lid for a week first.
