Day 5 post-spawn. Prepped 650 g coir + 3.25 L water using BOD's cooler method. Mixed 4 myco-quarts WBS spawn with 6 quarts coir, then added a layer of 2 quarts coir on top of that.
Happy National Mushroom Day!

Thanks for the feed back pasty. One more question. How many tubs high can I get away with stacking on each other?
Also do the lights need to be over head for the shrooms to grow straight up or can I run them vertically on the walls
Do you case with this tek as well?

Looking great!
Did you decide to add the optional holes and cover with micropore tape in the event of excess FAE?
Check out eats unbucket tek. Hot water to hydrate coir instead of boiling water... if you plan on doing multiple tubs it can save a considerable amount of time.

Question:
Are you guys taping up the holes during colonization of the tub? Or is it free air flow from the very beginning? I guess that leaves the only real switch-up for fruiting the introduction of light after colonization, yes?

Eats, I agree on the taping holes being ridiculously time consuming... honestly probably my least favorite part of the spawning process. Almost up there with disposing of used petris and subs.
I’ll go back and give this thread a good read.

For what it is worth, ruK, I do no taping at any point and do the normal light cycle from day one with agar all the way through the process to harvest.
I may have mixed up my PE and GT tubs. Still not sure which is what, but they are progressing.
I just noticed this crap ton of side pins starting on what should have been GT. This is the tub that I didn't add the optional holes to. Maybe that is why the GT is so far behind the PE. So I grabbed the drill and added them now to see if that helps. Maybe even in a dry environment the extra hole is necessary when using a casing.
I definitely changed too many factors in my process at once to figure out what the hell is working and what is not. Always next time.
Edit:spelllling.

I believe you were replying to me? I did not add the optional lower hole on the short sides. Still waiting to see if I should - not sure how to make that decision honestly. I'll just keep on eye on surface conditions I guess.
Thanks for the recommendation, I'll check that out!

My fairly novice understanding is that in general it is becoming clear that it's fine to start "fruiting conditions" (air flow and light) from the moment that you spawn.

Sorry for the double post. How problematic is this pooling due to condensation build up and dripping off of the walls? If it’s a significant problem, any tips on how to prevent it? The room is at 71-78 F.
On the bright side, I’m really liking the general surface conditions with these tubs. Five stars so far.

EZ DIAL LOG
Is it the particular variety in that tub or do all your mushrooms grow slanted like that in those tubs?

Absolutely, it works wonderfully with PE. Pasty used PE in his pictures on the first page of this tek if you want to see epic results.

Don’t be scared of pe. I was all hyped up about it and it turned out to be the same as any other cube and actually produced more than average.
Just don’t skip the casing, once thats done you’re back to regular do nothing and wait cube growing.

For pe varieties is anyone doing different bottom hole configurations?
Big bear, this apeu is so sensitive to light, if there is a slight angle from your light source to the tub it grows towards it. If i move the tub from original source like 180 degrees it will literally turn the other way in a matter of hours. If i have a tub on top of a tub, the bottom tub grows sideways. I dont have The option of lights above each stack of tubs either.
From that clone in 3 tubs my last yield was 652 grams. Updated the dial log. The apeu doesn't need a clone im getting the same yield with ms or clone. Ive compared around 20 plus flushes.
