Does anyone play Dungeons and Dragons?
I started playing their online game and was wondering if anyone here played.

I love DnD, I’ve played it for years.
I play DnD weekly as a DM for my wife and her coworkers.
4th edition is probably my favorite edition, but with how incredibly easy DnD Beyond makes things 5th edition is about all I play anymore.
If you are new, look into DnD beyond, it will hold your hand every step of the way.
I’ve also played my deal of non-DnD table top games.
My favorites being Call of Cthulhu and Vampire: the Masquerade.
Call of Cthulhu has the players in the role of a 1920’s supernatural horror investigator, And Vampire: the Masquerade is, well, vampires...
I’m almost done with the expanse book series, and once I am I will be checking out the Expanse table to game as well.

Ive played DnD once. It was a lot of fun, very imaginative. I would play more if i knew a group of cool people to play.
So the Expanse series, i saw on Syfy channel there was a new show called "Expanse". Must be based on that book series your reading.....

Shows been out for a while.
Syfy make the first 3 seasons then cancelled it.
But Amazon bought the rights and they are currently filming season 4.

I haven’t seen the show, only read the books. But I hear the show is really good too.

Certified nerd checking in. I've been playing D&D for about 13 years now.
Have played every edition besides 4th (Sara I am baffled that that's your favorite). Both played and ran campaigns, my favorite is 3.5e but I like how the mechanics are in 5e.
Just started a new Homebrew realm and campaign, slowly getting into the DIY dungeon settings and terrain for miniatures.
It's the only game I play. Somehow lost all interest in video/board/card games in the past 9 years.

I started with 3.5, but 4e is when I started actually running games and really understood everything.
I also love 4e because there are like 3 times the race/class options and they all felt very unique unlike in 5e where everyone picks from a big shared spell pool.

I had been playing for about a year before I moved from a big city to a small town. Trying to start up a new game tomorrow with my brother (who's brand new to the game) as DM and one of his friends, the only other game going is the next town over, but they said they have 1 DM and 7 players at the moment and not taking new people.
I played online on roll20 which was ok, but pencil&paper with a few drinks is the setup I'm looking for

That's understandable, probably why I'm so partial to 3.5 since I started DMing with that edition.
However the options for races/classes/spells are staggering with 3.5, way more so than what's featured in 4 or 5. It is the most comprehensive edition with the largest collection of supplements.
There are a lot of unnecessary redundancy's with skills and some stupid mechanics(looking at you flat footed AC), but besides that it's still better than 2e at least.
Also curious what y'all's opinions are on ideal party size and favorite combo of classes for a party.
Mine would be 4-6 with Cleric, Wizard, War mage, barbarian or paladin and a couple wild card dps/support classes like psions or a rogue variant.

I think most people here are nerds of some sort. Just not many dnd nerds.
I always wanted to go larping personally but I was always broke and mostly didn't know many larpers who also did drugs. Sad since high larping is probably pretty fun.
