First Bulk Sub Attempt! Dub Tubs

I'm back after a brief intermission with my first attempt at fruiting off my own bulk sub vs fruiting off a pf cake... went as far as I could with that, got some really nice fruits, but at the end of the day they were cakes and I was itching to try a bulk sub based tek. I started with dub tubs because I wanted to be cautious, if i made mistakes, they would be small. I think they went pretty damn well but as with before I'd love to hear some advice, more than happy to answer any questions! i did a mix of hpoo, verm and gypsum as the sub, actually used grinded pf cakes as spawn. My popcorn isn't ready and I'm impatient lol. Here are pics as Im harvesting!
Thinking I'm gonna wait overnight to harvest this bin. Also two more I'll be putting into fruiting conditions today, one of a larger size. Wanna slowly work my way to a mono lol.

The spawn I used was a mix of golden teacher and B+, I'd love to say its some hybrid but as I've read, and my guess, the B+ genetics probably just won over lmao

also was thinking of experimenting with unmodded tubs? I've read some people swear by them? although, i like my results so far, so i have a "if it aint broke" mindset... any thoughts?

Unmodded tubs aren’t bad, you can use em for stuff later as well if you’re speaking of like not drilling holes and such. Only thing is make sure to get proper Air circulation and thangs like that I usually have my tubs modded feels like I’m doing whatever I can to get em to grow lol the harder I work the more confident I feel lol probably just my paranoia.

Lmao appreciate the replies man and yeah, I feel that! I feel like the more I work the less confident I get, I think that's just my lack of experience though, feel like I'm kinda shooting in the dark lmao its super dry where I'm at rn and I feel like too much FAE dries everything out, at least that was def the case with my cakes. Had me thinking of Unmodded, that and misting 3+ times a day to maintain humidity is difficult with a full time job lmao

Shoeboxes are unmodified. If I'm not mistaken, those are shoeboxes you are using.
Not sure why you are using popcorn when there are easier, less expensive grains to use. Also you can just use Coir for your sub (if your just growing cubes).
Great looking fruits!! Good Luck on your future grows.

I am using modified and unmodified dub tubs, that's at least the tek I am following. And everywhere I've read says coir is good, but doesn't quite match hpoo in being a nutritious substrate. I am using popcorn because I went to the health food store for rye berries and they were fresh out, bulk popcorn kernels were the same price so being impatient as I am, that's what I went with. Appreciate the response.

Most all the nutrients you need come from the grain you used to spawn your myc. That's why people use coir (or cv/cvg) subs and easily get 2 oz per quart first flush.
Nothing wrong with your method, just thought I'd let you know in case you ever wanted to try something new

I made jar lids with poly fill filters and self healing injection ports! I can post a cpl pics if you'd like! They're almost fully colonized! Took them a few weeks.

Appreciate the info man! I have a brick of coir I'll most likely experiment with once I have a little more experience. I just went with Hpoo cause I was told it was very nutritious in comparison to coir, also I have a whole compost at my disposal, so i figured why not! Ill be definitely experimenting with my coir in the future though!

What would be yall's preferred method of rehydrating the sub for another flush? I've read a few different ways (dunking, injecting, heavy mist) but what's the most recent accounted for method? I dunked one and it's not looking too good anymore and what is a good, relatively easy casing that I could put on it for the second flush? I did the first uncased. appreciate any help!

Mist, bottom water, or dunk for rehydrating it. Forgo the casing layer for the second flush. Just let it ride as is. Experiment with casing your next tub when you spawn it to bulk
