Here's one, but it really doesn't show the key species of trees you need to be in...hemlock

These things are in extensive hemlock forest near medium creeks, up the slopes in wet areas that beech trees fall in. Usually right in the middle of hemlocks. Sometimes growing in birch, but by far more in beech.

Really rotten wet beech.

I found a ton more today...literally about 100. I didn't spend much time looking either, just look for dead beech laying in hemlock and there they are!

today i found 3 small mushrooms looked so similar i mean like its twin but the center was more of a brown. Found by a creek growing out of moss. Took them with me but they got squashed in my pack. Didnt bruise blue. Just curious what kind those were."nipple" remained even in the mature specimen that had the edges of its cap pointing upwards like an umbrella turned inside out.

Well I finally got around to a spot I scoped out during ovoid season this year 😁

Still a heavy Beech area for me. No hemlock around...  tho, from what I’ve seen from this thread these past two seasons.. might yield heavier numbers if they were around
I have found my sweet spot to be about 50-100 feet up whatever slope i’m walking.. Anyone else usually find them hot right there?

Also wanted to add, this is the most I have ever found.. I’m lucky if in one season collectively I find as many as I did today. Pretty pumped. That first one had me busting nuts haha

Nice finds!! Yup, about 100 feet up the slope they get thick! I found 4 yesterday about 30 feet from the creek. Big clusters up slope though.
