Yea I know those cow n gate jars. Would b perfect only for the weird thread. Still works tho. I've used them for spore printing straight on the bottom. Just add sterile water n suck back up into syringe

Maybe for pf but shooting dirty spores into grains is a bad idea, unless using agar to clean up.

I got some from Ikea but I wouldn't recommend as there's too many angles and tucks and fold in the sides, so washing them is a pain in the hole other than that, I'm sure any of them will do the job

Hey guys...not been active here (or growing) for years...
Just wondering on opinions re: the best place to order syringes from? Any decent UK suppliers or is it a case of ordering from Netherlands (that's how I started many years ago)?
Many thanks

There are some places in the UK but mostly GT and other standard cubensis there are a few ive seen that sell the better varieties APE, PEU, PE, KSSS. However i cant remember of hand what the website is someone will know, i have APE PEU and KSSS but theyre all syringes so cant really trade unless you wanna send me some sterile swabs and i can knock you up a few swabs. KSSS i have a print i could swab. Dont need anything in return just send me the swabs and an evelope with stamps for the correct postage cost and your address on it if your interested. You will need to be able to use agar, sorry if you already know this we havent talked before. Welcome back and good luck.

Hey mate, very generous and I thank you. I'm not in fact planning on doing anything mycology related apart from being a point of advice for someone. No prob for me using agar etc. but just looking to get this person going with a simple cube strain. Keeping it as simple as poss so just looking for a syringe really and mayb e get things a bit complex later

I almost bought cheap mason jars today. They were litre size, glass with embossed writing (not a known brand), with the two-piece metal lid, 99p each. As I carried four of them round the shop I thought they seemed a little light. Upon inspection, the glass was thin. There was a "handwash only" sticker on the bottom! If they cant handle a dishwasher, I'm not risking the pressure cooker. Back they went.

If they were from home bargains, I've been using them for about a year with no bother

Idk how many cycles I've done with some of mine now but it's quite a lot. I've had no problems breaking up spawn with my palm, even some thick clumpy spawn.
I've only had 2 smash on me. One was because I was hitting it on the carpet (concrete floor underneath ) and the other one I was hitting it off a dining chair to try and break up oak sawdust sub that had been in there a month or more. So I'm not saying they dont break but under normal use they're fine.
Oh here I even had one fall off the draining board the other week on to the tiled kitchen floor and it bounced but didn't break
I'll not be using it in the PC again though.

Oh! Good to know, thank you. They seemed light when I picked them up, and I thought they'd be fine until I saw the handwash only sticker. But Ill pick up a couple next time then, for 99p its not the end of the world if they crack sometime.

They are great and work just as well as the kilners

Probably already been mentioned but pound land coir blocks are great, expand to about 10lt, perfect for a a wilkos monotub @ 4" sub.
Ben using Damien's bucket tek, a total breeze with these, in goes the block, verm, no sawing coir+ 5 quart spawn, 4.5-5quart water.
JUst been back to buy 10 before they scrap the garden gear.....
+1 for the HB jars, been PC'ing them fine here.

DOes anyone know if this is the right type of lime to put in my casing layer. The one from jewsons.
I bought it to pasterize straw for oysters.
Just had two pe tubs tric up after applying layer 10/10/1/1 peatmoss/verm/gypsum/crushed oyster shell.
THink its a PH issue? culture is clean.

Hey hey hey Frac hows it going bro. Ive only used this for cold water pasteurization but it is definitely lime. I know there is gardeners lime but I think that has antifungal shit in it. Im guessing but I think its right as if it wasn't why would we cover Oysters food with it? <Thinking out loud>
How did the PE go I sent you?
