Advice on my first mono (fruiting)
    #26133964 -

Hey everyone,
So, I am in the midst of my first ever grow attempts.  I have 2 tubs, a 66q mono and a shoebox.  Grain spawn to choir/verm with a this casing of choir...  Well in my inexperience I let the casing get overcolonized…

I know overlay is not supposed to be an issue with cubes, but what would be your advice on proceeding?...  The threads of myc are starting to pull together to form knots(?) and some are stretching upwards a bit...  I put into fruiting 3 days ago...  Shaould I add another thin casing layer or should I continue fruiting as is?

Also, I have read that you should not mist the myc, but mist the walls...  Well I found experimenting with the shoebox that if I mist the myc lightly it starts for pull together and form what I am assuming are knots as the droplets evaporate...  This seems to be speeding the process or is it a mistake to do this?

Thanks in advance!

Leave it. Things are either colonized or not, there is no over-colonized.

Stop misting that shoebox! Shoeboxes should be almost set and forget. Oversaturated is much worse than under-saturated.

For the rest: you want to aim for proper surface conditions. Here's a thread on it: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23999053

If you can get those gorge water droplets on the myc coming through on your coir you're golden  Don't stress it, have patience
