I am going to be replaced part by part until nothing human remains beginning tomorrow morning. :borg:

I like upgrading my human parts for better quality materials.

Keep us posted on the healing process OC!

Let it be seen that you are nothing. And in knowing that you are nothing... there is nothing to lose, there is nothing to gain. What can happen to you? Something can happen to the body, but it will either heal or it won't. What's the big deal? Let life knock you to bits. Let life take you apart. Let life destroy you. It will only destroy what you are not.

"Are we merely biological machines without a "Divine Spark"?" is the actual topic up for discussion.

or

"Are Transhumans still human?"

My guess is that we are biological machines but the sheer complexity and beauty of that machine is what we think of as the "divine spark". If there is anything spiritual I don't see why that would be fundamentally different (any less mechanical) from the biological anyway.

Good luck and best wishes for a swift recovery OC :sun:

TY, PL. I don't fear the pain or the long recovery, but I am concerned that something might get permanently fucked up and make me worse than I am now. I am reasonably functional, but cannot be very active. Would like to get that back.

OC, you, or anyone, might enjoy some of these pictures and simulation movies of the
Molecular Motor Proteins  already inside all of our cells already
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=cell%2C+molecular+motor

also awesome to consider:
apoptosis or programmed cell death
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=apoptosis+programmed+cell+death

The info and images & movies seem amazing in their own right, they also may raise some questions like:

So is a machine that knows it is a machine, a machine?
If so, what is 'it', that knows?
If the machine knows, but then the machine stops functioning,
what happens to the knowing?
The questions would seem to be endless.

cute "car", but, apparently you are content to go very slowly, in very safe places only.

Being able to see beauty could be considered the divine. And the ugly. Love and fear. Why should a machine feel anything at all? Mysterious.

Some random thoughts or current opinions on feeling:

...Seems you, Rhaz, equate emotions (ie. love and fear) with being alive. (Awareness is of course is a separate matter). Of course it seems, e -motion-s were evolved  to motivate (or produce move-ment) in organisms with a slightly more sophisticated mechanism, than just pain and pleasure, which only allowed 'approach/incorporate & avoid, flee, resist, vomit).
...And objectively speaking, the emotions are largely facilitated by hormones, which for example make possible the fight or flight response (with adrenaline release) vs the 'relaxation response' (probably dopamine etc.). So although we don't consider unemotional things like rocks to be alive, we do consider the unemotional plants to be alive. And the ancient mechanisms of emotion, (which have nothing to do with awareness), seem rather mechanistic in nature. For example:
...Insects which seem, both unemotional & unaware, battle one another for matting rights.
...In reptiles & amphibians, we see more elaborate aggressive behavior, but again it seems so predictable and ritualistic, as to appear more robotic, than as evidence, by itself, of being 'alive'.

...As grapefruit implies differentiating between the 'spiritual' and the 'mechanistic' may just be a human construct. As atoms certainly seem rather mechanistic, yet everything, even life is made of them.
...And if the sum is more than the sum of the parts, as chaos theory and emergence may suggest, again what we have is a totally impersonal and unemotional process.
...It has often amused me that emotions themselves have no emotion, pain feels no pain, and so on, there always must be a self, or separate experiencer, in order for a reaction and/or experience to occur.
.Hence the Buddhist quip:
"No self,
No problem"
...This same principle tells us that, in an ultimate sense, space itself has both no size, and no location, as there is nothing outside of itself to provide a context.
...Of course within (the context of) space everything has both size, and location.
(Even the probabilistic behavior of electrons, within atoms, seems confined largely to 'orbitals' or 'clouds' of a specific shape)
...We can apply the same principle to time.
In an ultimate sense, time itself has no duration, as there is nothing outside of itself to provide a context. And it is, of course, always both now and forever, forever!
...Of course within (the context of) time everything has a duration and is subject to cause & effect, transformation or has a beginning, middle & end.
