Pretty sure I used it properly but it may have been a bit bacterial....

I'm guesstimating the total yield at 3oz once dry or 2.5oz .... 1jar yielded 20g dry previously but I'm only using ms so it's hard to to tell...

Did you spawn to a bulk substrate when you did that bucket? And if so how much spawn did you use?
I figured 8L of spawn would yield at least 4oz

But I've been wrong many times before

That bucket was a 1:1 spawn to bulk. Bulk was pasteurized chopped hay (not straw) and coir in non measured ratio of about 1:1. cased with coco. Set immediately into fruiting conditions.

I tried using hay before but it triched up on me.....

I might try popcorn and hay to see if I get similar results.....hay is super nutritious so much so it contams quickly and that's why its recommended to avoid it but my concern was the popcorn wasn't nutritious enough for fruit body production but hay would provide enough for the production of fruit bodies...

I'll give it a shot

Hay is not easy, unless you're good at making difficult things look easy. Thats just what was in that bucket.

Tip: Leech and drain the hay once in hot water...
Also skip the "consolidation period" or whatever people are calling it these days (dark and wet is bad). It doesn't happen in nature. Best to always immediately case and expose to fresh air, humidity, warmth, and light (fruiting conditions).

As if there is time to actually waste....lol

At a 1:1 ratio it should run fast enough to beat out any contaminate.

I wasnt thinking about hay as a nutritional substitute for the popcorn or I'd have made a hay tub instead of the coir/verm/worm castings... would have been cheaper then the 23 I spent on those ingredients.

2nd flush is producing monster mushrooms.

I'm liking the results now

I'm pretty sure 2nd is going to produce another 2oz dry in total weight so popcorn isn't all that disapointing.

Update

Third flush produced some medium sized fruits. In closing three flushes produced a overall net weight of 6.5g dry. Not a terrific haul but defiantly not a waste of time. Use rye berries or wbs before popcorn but if all fails then popcorn is the winning grain for its ease of sterilization.

And I took some prints off third flush
They came out charcoal black and the spores are so dense they look like a shiny black glob of sludge on the tinfoil. I always send one out to a noob in need so if anyone reads this and wants a gt print send me a PM with your mailing addy and I'll be quick to send it out.... I can only do one or two.

Here's a pic of one

Happy shrooming everybudday

Popcorn works fine with any bulk sub. Just strait coir with a pinch of gypsum is a great sub for popcorn. Coir, although high in cellulose which is a carbohydrate which many fungi consume (nutrient) is rather void of vitamins, minerals, calcium, and amino acids to help facilitate the metabolism of said cellulose. Coir and corn still works fine. Testing something once is in no way telling of how it really works.

I would be in serious trouble if I didn't pee for a few days....

its not literal piss. its a reaction from stress as bod said. high temps and bacterial/contaminated spawn is when i see them.

ive never ever seen metabolites and went 'oh good my substrates bladder is empty and everything is fine'.

I love this, may steal it later. Like people think their mushroom colony just got drunk and pissed itself.
