How everyone seems to think that third-party candidates are somehow so much more angelic and perfect than Democrats or Republicans? I have a theory as to why this is: Nobody makes attack ads against third-party candidates.

Well, it might also have to do with it being less likely that theyre in the pockets of special interests since ones like perot and nader havent really been political insiders, dropping to their knees when they need campaign money. plus usually its a pretty poor idea for a PAC to waste money on a third-party's hopeless campaign.

Interesting saying. Reminds me of the socrates notion that the perfect leader is one who doesn't want to lead but must be thrust into it for lack of anyone who can do the job well enough.
That said, I think power does corrupt in that once in power, one must do some corrupt things in order to stay in power.

This assumes that they want to stay in power, thus advancing BleaK's argument.

I believe third party canidates are usually less greedy than democrats and republicans, but people definitely don't regard them as angelic. Many people are pissed at Ralph Nader because he's "taking" votes away from Kerry, and since theoretically most of the people voting for Nader would vote for Kerry, Kerry would be beating Bush now instead of trailing him by a couple percent
