How to trip with chronic pain?
    #26126309 -

I have some medical problems (like pain in my spine) so i find most positions uncomfortable. This is distracting when i trip. I use MJ 24/7 for pain, even when i trip but i just find the body aches hard to deal with in trip states. I also have sleep apnea and well, strapping a cpap on during a trip seens like a bad idea lol.

So, i know it's an odd question,  but
Have any of you ever tried tripping in a massage chair like this?

Whatever works best... I'm dependent on opioid so I use those. If you have pain tripping will be uncomfortable no matter what. I find tripping doesn't necessarily increase pain, but brings one back to baseline awareness so one can try to readjust their frame into the right position if that's what's neede. Other more permanent pain is impossible

I have not...I've never been in a situation of chronic pain where I'd need to do something like that.

....but those chairs can be quite comfortable lol, if you're comfortable spending some time sitting in one of those chairs and it helps ease your pain and can help you really "sink" into the trip and not be distracted by your pain, then go for it! Like dude mentioned above, "whatever works" .

Other than cannabis....do you take anything for pain? Are you familiar with kratom ?

Kinda off on a tangent....but I was talking to this one fella several years ago that had some sort of issues with chronic pain throughout his body, I forget what he had going on specifically..But he mentioned that when he trips, at least with LSD specifically, that his pain subsides. He said once the trip has set in, once he's a few hours into it, the pain he typically experiences is "in the background" and it's one of the few times & ways he can get relief from the constant pain he experiences.

During the come up on psychedelics I notice I can become a bit more "achey" and stiff than usual, but generally psychedelics dull down pain for me as well once I'm in the thick of the trip.

Yea I get that about the "pain in the background". One time with bad back pain I actually loosened up enough during the trip and suddenly became aware of certain contributing habits. I wouldn't say psychosomatic but it highlighted to me things that weren't serving me and helped me towards recovery.

I also have noticed there's a big physical difference between small and large doses. From microdosing recently and slightly above my threshold I've found my pain can be amplified and makes for quite uncomfortable experiences. However without fail on larger doses it's almost like you push past that 'lower level' functioning. It's like you become disassociated with the pain or something. It's probably still there and I don't believe the psilocybin is an anesthesia it's your awareness sees it for what it is.

To the op best of luck. I hope you find what you need. Just plan out what you'll do if a certain position is uncomfortable. Be familiar with adjusting it or even take a break from it for a while. I find having these things thought out beforehand makes the trip a little smoother, lowers the anxiety and in turn the pain.

These are my experiences as well. MJ helps put the pain in the background too. Since I use it daily, I do it when tripping too. Still, I become achy and have trouble breathing on my back. When trying microdoses .25g to .33g is all I can tolerate. After that I start getting symptoms like agitation, increased pain, anxiety, so I think we've both had the same experience. You have to either stay .33g or 5g but not in between.

Thank you, good advice.

No, just MJ, ibuprofen and occasionally opiates. I am taking a daily low dosage of Naltraxen which (when used in small dosages) decreases pain and has anti-inflammatory properties. Not well recognized because no money to be made so big pharm doesn't promote it.

The thing abou LSD releasing pain after first becoming worse until one just lets go, stretches, and relaxes letting the pain go.
