The God of Gods
    #26125431 -

To be a God of Gods, you have to encompass that which that God does and does not encompass.

For instance, be both a God and a Devil.

The greatest God therefore is the Totality of Everything, or as scientists call it, the Universe/Multiverse.

Is this not so?

Hell is an absence of God or wrong perception.

So the God of confusion is wrongly perceived God of clarity.

Depends on who you ask.

In my view, there is only God, and therefore, there can be no absence of God.

I see more in Demons x Angels than Angels x nothing.

Evil also requires positive action.

would that limit God by having to be everything?

it could be more powerful to create and than seperate from the creator, and yet still hold that creature forever dependent on the creator.

I don't believe in deities as seperate identities.  As I know it there is one conscious diety and that is all.  Seperate identity is for primitive life.

Clinging to forms of understanding that crave seperate existences cause suffering.

I agree

That's the nature of universal consciousness.  Getting to that maturity is a separate matter.  Perhaps not, I don't know.

I wouldn't hold my breath, trying to get there nor to an understanding.

Well technically, Buddhist do not believe in a "ground of all consciousness", but rather nothingness, I think yer thinkinhg of yogi ideas of Atma/Brahman, pure conciousness, the "Self" etc, etc.

after all, it was the buddha who supposedly went deeper in his meditation, and like the first dividing of an indivisble atom, the first atom was split and nuclear energy was released, the buddha split the Atma (the soul) and saw it too is not immortal but ceases like everything else, and there is actually Nothing.

also known as that big thing that seperates hindus from buddhist.

If God is the universe/multiverse then why call it God?

Universe seems like a perfectly fine word to me.

Because people are obsessed with God having the same simple, stupid, utterly worthless minds they have.

If you call it Universe you emphasize all things. If you call it God you personify it.

Though, either is fine as far as I'm concerned.

Why personify it?

As soon as you start to pretend something has a mind, you can start to pretend to know what it thinks.

Yep, then it gets political in what we should all think or what this personality wants us to do.

I don't think that the mind that greats us at death is anything like mind we know of.  Mediation isn't about mind, it's about what's beyond mind.

Mind is just fantasy rooted in darkness.

OK, you never had a conversation with God, I can deal with that :sun:

You personify the Universe because the Universe isnt just an It, its a Somebody too. More precisely, its Everybody as One.

All the consciousness and sentience that exists in the Universe, is of the universe, right?

No, you then communicate with that consciousness directly and get your own answers. In the brain, (s)he/it lives in the Temporal lobe.

How can you be certain that you have?

Seems to me that people confuse themselves with God often enough to be concerned.

But how do you know it's a somebody?

Of course the universe contains conscious beings, but because the universe contains sentience and consciousness doesn't mean it is sentient as a whole. That's like arguing a car is sentient because it has people inside it.

Just for clarification, I'm not asserting that the universe is not sentient. I'm admitting I have no good reason to think that it is.

How do you know what your communicating with is God?

Kinda sounds like talking to your own brain.

Christians believe that stuff all the time.  Oh this and this happened it's a sign from God.  Or that Christianity is some sort of life changing experience, when it's more of a self motivation.

I think the true roots of Christianity were lost a long long time ago.

A consistency throughout my life but also, miracles. I have witnessed plenty of miracles that were announced in advance to know that there is way more going on than mere talk.

We're the ocean in a drop, so if its me, its most definitely the ocean part, not the drop pArt.

I've never heard of a miracle I found convincing, but I won't argue with your anecdotal experience.

Why is it, do you think, that God has decided to reveal him/herself to you (and others) but not to me? Does God pick favorites? Why doesn't s/he reveal him/herself outright to all and put an end to the game of hide and seek?
