Chicken of the woods transfer looking strange
    #26124952 - 08/07/19 12:04 AM (1 year, 6 months ago)

I appreciate any and all help I get ahead of time thank you, the only reason I was able to make it this far is the amazing people in this community. This is the first time I had to post to find an answer, usually search is enough.

I put a wedge into an agar plate I made myself, two days later I see stringy root-like growth coming from the wedge and expanding, but I also saw some white slime looking stuff growing at the opposite end of the dish. I attempted to clone what I believe to be the mycelium by transferring to another dish. It Looks like I have isolated the thing I tried to I’m just not sure if it’s what I want, I can’t find any chicken of the woods on agar to compare it to and it doesn’t look like anything I’ve experienced. This picture is 24 hours after transfer.

Long way of asking, does this look fucked? https://imgur.com/gallery/aPtL6BC

Embarrassed, I thought this one didn’t post, fixed a typo and reposted. I don’t know how to delete this thread. Mods help me?

Just click "Edit" on the OP, then scroll to the bottom and hit the "Delete This Post" button at the bottom

Shit happens.

EDIT: Although, now I would just delete the other one that nobody has responded to now that I have responded to your double post here in this one.

Seems that you got contamination. Mind you, I dont have experience with growing that species but search on net shows plate of Laetiporus that looks like this.

Im jumping in because some species can really look super weird. Like Armillaria.

Damn. I was really hoping with the aggressive growth that it was mycelium. I’ll let the plate fully colonize and see what it’s looking like then before trashing it. Ah well, at least I still have healthy looking Shiitake, King Oyster, and GT. Thanks for the input!
