that it has kind of become discouraging

unfortunately, expecting Biden to win the Democratic Primary
not because he is the most popular or most qualified
but because the DNC has various stupid rules in place where some states require people to be registered Democrats to vote in the primary at all
so Bernie has less capacity for a real general-support surge

if he was presenting some new issues or something, it would give me more fun to ramble about
but, instead, Yang is the one parroting messages about my own area of interest (the implications of advancement of AI and robotics)

Pretty much how things work here in Canada too, except that no level of government is directly involved in administering the parties' internal elections for leader in the first place. If you want a say in a party's pick for leader then you join that party. If anything, letting non-members vote on that would be odd IMO.

To my limited comprehension, the Republicans use an open system in more states than the Democrats; it was part of what Trump took advantage of to gain candidature
while standing Republicans never wanted him there in the first place
and also part of why he still gets portrayed as an anti-establishment candidate; even if he has complete kowtowed to the GOP and financial elite now, him coming in was against their wishes

the DNC has open elections in some states, not others -- Hillary's strongest wins over Bernie before getting the seat were in closed states if my recollection is correct
but also recall a number of complaints on imgur from Bernie supporters that they went to the polls for him in the primary, only to be informed they had been purged from the voting list

Yeah I agree with everything you said. I honestly don't think any of them can beat trump though. People love watching Donald on the television because he's so unpredictable. Hell a lot of people didn't even watch politics until he ran for president. If Biden got in everything would be boring again. Americans love entertainment. I love almost everything about Bernie besides for his views on gun control. I'm trying to decide if he's worth more than the 2nd amendment. I know it makes me sound like a redneck but I'm honestly not. This is important to millions of people. I wanted Bernie to win last election and once he was out of the race I didn't really care who won. I like Bernie's views on the drug war and universal healthcare. I believe college shouldn't be so expensive but at the same time I don't think it should be free. I think way to many people go to college and get nothing out of it. I think the most he would get done is universal healthcare and legalize pot. That doesn't sound so bad though lol. I have a feeling that trump might steal the marijuana thing before the next election lol. Things really aren't that bad right now though. They say this is the greatest time in history to be alive. Maybe we should all be more grateful. There's probably no afterlife so maybe we should stop taking existence so seriously? I don't know lol...
