I do. I think he's a rich asshole and now a politician. Too buddy buddy with Israel but I won't get into that. He's done great for the economy, cut taxes, is reducing silly government regulations, trying to fix immigration etc. I feel sympathy for classic liberal ideas like social freedoms and keeping religion separate from government, but those ideas have been replaced with identity politics and screaming nonsense buzzwords and having tantrums like children. The democratic party is in shambles and won't let up on their evil Trump narrative. It's disgusting. Almost everything you hear from creepy pedo hollywood and the media is he's evil. Why should I trust a bunch of kid diddlers and wackjobs about politics?

Trump has done OK at best for the overall economy, but the bottom 80% haven't seen real wage growth and are in even more debt today.  The Elite have done great, I wouldn't call this MAGA at all. 

The trade deficits have exploded higher under Trump.  The Federal deficit has also exploded higher.

You're an idiot if you think universal healthcare could ever work in the US. I never even mentioned corporations so congrats on pulling that out of thin air. No shit amazon should be paying taxes. You didn't bring up a single valid point or rebuttal. Also, the US wouldn't even fucking exist if it weren't for guns or the second amendment. You wouldn't even be allowed to spew your bs using your first amendment right without the second amendment. I get it. Republicans are definitely into socialism. They just don't want regular people to get anything; just the military and rich people.

this is the exact problem i have with Yang and his supporters.  no one should get a UBI if they don't already have a full-time job.  what a ridiculous notion to think people should be "living job free."

I'm all for it.. seriously only 1 candidate is going to allow me to live for free and allow me the time to focus on my passions. people who dont like free time or want to live more luxuriously and not just scrape by can have jobs

I like Yang's ideas on campaign finance reform, but I think UBI is a bit too simplistic and doesn't account for the inflationary correction that would take place handing everyone 12K a year for breathing.

again, no job (30+hrs/week) and no paying taxes = no UBI for you


i'm not opposed to adjusting for a weak dollar, but handing out $12k to anyone and everyone is shear insanity.  now, if there was a catch, such as 8 years of social-/public-work before being awarded the UBI, that would be more enticing, military service excluded.

The whole premise of UBI is that it's universal. If it was dependent on having a job it wouldn't be UBI.

I'm ok with being called lazy and even a piece of shit if it means my basics are covered and I'm not totally consumed by a meaningless job and actually have the time & energy to pursue life interests which could eventually become lucrative. you know it would be so nice to have that wiggle room

Am not a US citizen, so my input here is a little sketch on the whole
but am personally stuck on disability -- to roughly the tune of 750 US dollars per month
the disability program 'allows' me to also be employed to roughly the tune of 150 US dollars per month
but it is not common that a business is interested to hire someone who can't have a reliable work schedule due to medical complications
so it is more frequent for me to do periodic unpaid volunteer work in my community, while those who work full time basically work themselves into the ground when they pick up similar hours

aaaaaanyway, the reason for bringing up otherwise inconsequential Canadian disability
is to note that for me to get UBI under Yang's system would require me to stop receiving monthly disability payments
which would be enticing for me to do, as the value of the UBI is higher and therefor more helpful
so, yeah, it would be involved in phasing out the existing mechanics of a disability system

what is appealing to me about how Yang promotes the UBI tho
is he also ties it to concepts of how the US needs to more deeply consider the warrants of keeping families together and allowing children to grow up with better homelives to the end of better overall academic performance
in the system he proposes, a woman who stays at home to raise a child while her husband works receives an effective injection of 2000 dollars per month  in recognition of the value of the work of motherhood and a strong family unit
this, in turn, works around issues like US companies not having sufficient parental leave programs
and also means the government does not need to mess around with trying to legislate companies into such obligated services
because a stay-at-home-mother has something to fall back on

similarly, if the kid is not kicked out of the house at 18, they will start receiving 1000$ a month
at that point, the parents are free to dictate to their adult child that they now pay 1000$ a month rent if they aren't moving out of the house
which empowers the successful parents as much or more than the lazy kid

also, like that Yang draws attention to the fact that automation of Amazon and things like self-checkout services are eliminating the most common American job (cashier)
and how the typical cashier is a 30+ year old woman who is going to otherwise likely end up on social services due to a lack of training to be able to move to more substantial positions in the new economic framework

Entry level jobs pay too low

Everything cost too much, house, car, and made too cheaply (lack of longevity of purchases).

It's not realistic to me. If everyone received the allowance, no one would be able to live off it by any stretch because housing costs would go up $500 a month on average after a couple years, and jobs would be able to hire people for less over the long run.

I would argue this actually lessens the safety net for people with disabilities who receive government allowances by making it less viable, and hurts the lower and middle class by de-incentivizing the acquirement of skills, all while inflating the currency and lowering wage competition.
