Any vegans here?

I had an acid trip a little while back and I started to feel extremely vegan thoughts out of the blue. I never really felt much of a desire to go vegan but after this trip, I find it hard to look at meat the same way. It’s weird but the thought of eating meat gives me this odd and dark feeling of disgust now that it never gave me before.

I always thought the transition to veganism was difficult and required mental persistence but for the past few weeks, I’ve had zero desire to touch meat.

To those of you who are vegan or vegetarian, how was your transition? Did you slowly cut out meat from your diet or suddenly stop eating meat one day? How did you deal with family and friends who offer you constant meals with meat? Did you have any adverse or positive reactions to cutting meat of your diet?

Stopped eating meat "cold turkey" after a hefty dmt journey. The transition is no problem. It's like that comedian who talks about when you stop drinking alcohol and you go to a party and they have no idea what to offer you. Very similar to that.

I’m a vegetarian for moral and environmental reasons

It was a fairly quick transition with short relapses. Your family will offer you food with meat until you die, no matter how many times you explain it to them (apparently, there’s a sizable percentage of the population who don’t consider chicken to be meat). There will always be negative reactions, it seems to put some meat eaters  on the defensive and make them feel threatened.

I understand the environmental reasons but its a slim effort if any imo. Alot more could be done than reducing cow farts. Bacon just tastes too good and I just cant live without a good steak every once in a while. Self mutilation I call it haha.

Im loose with my remarks, sorry, but honestly I think alot of people struggle with veganism because they dont understand its purpose or know how to diet that way. My bros wife thinks veganism will help her lose weight. Been like that for 5 years and looks the same. Another friend of mine just got out of veganism because she first thought it was a healthy way to live (practiced many fad diets), but also simply asked herself why? There are just too many humans Earth to feed everyone, not to mention the fat Americans and the loss of product from sitting on shelves too long. Also to to take it seriously, you have to eat more often during the day and substitute protein because it is a requirement for a healthy life.

Amazonian deforestation is being driven by agriculture. It’s fine if you want to eat meat. Not cool to try to downplay things you apparently don’t know anything about.

I fully support vegans or whatever diet makes you feel good then do that.
. however that being said...
Have you ever heard you are what you eat?
Eating plants might keep you from consuming meat first hand, however have you ever wondered what plants eat?
Plants use raw organic materials to convert into energy to help them grow. The “raw organic material” they utilize is more often than not animal products.. even in organic farming, the fertilizers are made of bone meal, blood meal, fish emulsion, etc.
In conclusion basically you are still eating animals. Just ones that died and rotted in the ground long enough for a plant to use it.
Again I fully support dieting as one feels necessary. Do what feels good to you. Just some FOOD for thought lol.

Good environmental practices aren’t an all or nothing thing.

Like I said before, people who eat meat attempt to rationalize and justify themselves for whatever reason, I have no idea why. Most vegans and vegetarians don’t give a shit what you’re eating. I definitely fall into this category. And with that being said, I think I’m done here

Had an interesting sandwich.  Cuban spicy mustard, organic ketchup pasteurized of course which sucks but shelf life.:shrug:  And a mayo siracha.  No shit.

Feel fucking fantastic.  Besides going the orange fanta can I bought to go with my Sved vodka.  Still overall, feel, good, minus the fanta.

Girlfriend vegan, would be very disappointed in me.

Took a two week break from meat and was excited to eat it again. However I found it not living up to my expectations. Still ate it for a while. Then had a good acid trip and on the come down I read 'Be Here Now' which has a spiritual cookbook at the end. There is a section on diet and that basically cemented myself as vegetarian 4yrs now.
Just got to be smart to make sure your body still gets all the things it needs. Plus the meat alternatives now a days are really good.

No vegan here, but am switching to good meat. Just bought part of a free-range grass-fed cow that will only be butchered once its completely sold

I love meat but I've found I feel physically better when I limit my intake. Really only need meat a few times a week at best.

tim hortans is pushing their plant breakfast sausage and plant based hamburgers on the public, they dont even sell a normal hamburger

pizzapizza has new plant based sausage and peperoni toppings

I dont know why they are trying to push this plant based junk on us, I heard its all high in linoleic acid

Except this was a thread about vegans where people who eat meat started piling on, proclaiming their love for meat. What’s the psychological mechanism that compels them to do so?

I think I understand all consumption decisions. Vegans go vegan through a psychological morphogenesis towards a compulsive attachment to the anti-cruelty idealism constructed by society which aims to boycot and eliminate involvement with any industry or practice of mankind that perpetuates suffering of conscious creatures.

There's a problem though. Involvement with suffering can't be eliminated by just going vegan. The vegan must also make changes in the rest of their lifestyle, they have to buy their clothing and shoes from anti-indentured-slavery manufacturers, who get their materials for the clothing from anti-indentured-slavery raw materials producers, which is impossible. This goes for their vegan food too.

The products they consume are a so frequently a product of 3rd world suffering, and they cannot even tell just how much suffering went into the vegan products they consume.

The common vegans today are technically sinful, or impure. Similarly to Christians who don't follow all the rules of the old testament or interpret the Bible in their own twisted way.

Its all basically a selfish self created coping mechanism for their lives. They just slap the vegan label on themselves or the Christian label or whatever label they need to feel like they are part of a better community

The vegan neglects to realize, or is simply ignorant of the fact that their entire lives are products of human suffering, and for a single unit of non-suffering bliss, a 1000 units of suffering had to be paid.

I dont vegan,  but I fast regularly and people always offer me food, even people who I tell and have told im not eating, and they like to tell me how wrong my choice is, so I guess its similar in the sense that its an unusual dietary choice people dont understand

you just have to be firm and listen/ignore to all the bull shit people will spew, sometimes if its a special occasion ill just eat whats being served even if its a fasting day, I also bought a tee shirt to show people im serious, it cost me like $50, but it supports the person who invented the diet im on
