If you are refering to the kind you get at the grocery store you will have to do some work. you will actually have to clone it. Get "stamets book growing midicenal (SP) and gormet mushrooms. it explains how. You'll first ahve to grow m out on agar them move them to grain spawn. Most that you find at the grocery store wil not have an open vail so you will not be able to get a spore print. A Better idea is if you want to grow them. look on line ther are alots of places that cary uge bags of grain spawn for common store mushrooms. Good luck...

For optimum success you have a two day window from picking. Also split the mushrooms down the center and extract a square cm or smaller amount of tissue from either the base of the stem or from the top of the stem near the gill attachments.
