Identification help please
    #26117693 - 07/19/19 12:47 PM (1 year, 7 months ago)

Habitat:
In new Brunswick,  Canada,  well cared for garden with recent peat moss and aged manure compost added.

Gills
Grey, getting darker with age

Stem:
1.5 to 4 inches long, 1/4 to 1/2 inch around

Cap:
Changing as it dries. Was a light color, some had a ring near the edge. Getting darker with age

Spore print color:
Waiting right now, but judging by the print left on top of other caps in the bunch looks quite black

Bruising
Not really noticing any bruising

Other information:
Scent of the mushroom, anything else you think is important, large close-up pictures showing stem, cap and gills.

I have no idea what that is, but I could definitely see myself looking at it *very* closely in the field. Interested to find out what it is.

Garden is full of them. They looked different the other day, now they're really starting to dry out

im pretty sure p. cinctulus (subbalteatus) doesn't have a shiny cap. i think it's something like panaeolus papilionaceus

We have these coming up in nova scotia right now

Those are too degraded, and it looks like you have a mixed bag there. Possibly two or more species.

Wait till next good rain and check for fresh specimens to post.

It does look like some are papilionaceus.
