What's the magical pH level you use for hard bark woodchips to speed up the mycellium for subaeroginosa?
Thanks

those look like the cheap ones you can buy on trademe, have a look there for a price comparison, i don't know the PSI on them but i would rather be certain and have a gauge on it

Look back through this thread an see what Inski wrote, you're lucky to get 7.5 psi.
As for steamers, they work with pftek, yet I believe they are now considered useless for agar/grain. Don't take my word though I'm just an noob know-it-all.

AFAIK you can use steamers for agar and grain but agar you gotta steam for ~2 hours and grain is more like ~10 hours

$124 with free postage. Sounds good. Looks like the size may not be as big at the presto 16qt, so may not fit 7quart jars properly. There is the presto 16qt for $170 deliverred which definitely fits 7 jars. . .
I like the description “safety and durable”, instills me with all kinds of security . . .
Funny that ya can buy from aliexpress for $23 cheaper

Hahaha, or perhaps I'm their doppleganger
Also, turns out Countdown has some pretty decent PP5 containers.
4pk 300 mL rectangle containers for $2.50 - Although they hold a larger volume, they're shorter than the Anko ones from Kmart as they splay outwards at the top. 8pk 50 mL round containers for $2.50 - They're obviously quite small, but could work pretty good.
I'm also going to try out using oven bags in my PC, instead of wrapping everything in foil. Fingers crossed it works, although 6 bags are only $3.29, so it's not too bad.

23qt Presto with 6 pint jars on trademe with free delivery $284.95.
The jars are worth $40 so that is $245 for the canner and you get 6 grain jars to boot!
12 Ball pint widemouth, usable for large pftek or small grains or LC. I think these are becoming my favourite jars. . .

I picked up a couple of Perfit jars for $2 from local op shops. I really don't think it's worth spending any more money than that. I suspect the Anko jars from Kmart are perfectly acceptable and otherwise PP5 plastic jars or even modified containers or just regular jars should be totally fine to do grain in. No real need to fork out $65 for 12 jars, even though they're the good shit.

Kia ora all – great thread Dunedinite, and a very timely one for me.
This winter I've decided to get back into growing as another hobby alongside cactus and salvia cultivation. I now have just about everything needed to start with agar. The last time I grew was with the PF tek 15 years ago(!), and it's cool to see the advancements that have been made since then.
One source for grains that I haven't seen mentioned is Animates. They have at least WBS, oats, and wheat. The store I went to didn't have oats in stock, so I picked up a 5 kg bag of wheat for about $15.
Looking forward to sharing my results with you all, and no doubt I'll have a few questions along the way.

Found a store in Glen Innes, Auckland that sells a wide range of containers used for takeaways. Got 100 85ml PP5 round lidded plastic containers for $14. Have tried them with agar, and also through the pressure cooker with no problems. They have a range of sizes, and the price difference between them is only a few dollars.
There is also this website which sells similar items, but no prices are listed, or the type of plastic.

That's pretty good! IDK if there's a place like that here in Dunedin, but it's definitely worth looking for.
Also! If you buy something off Amazon and it's shipped via DPD, you can track the parcel via this website: https://wndirect.com/tracking-dpd.php/
Amazon tracking shows an absolute bare-minimum of information. I've been checking it each day waiting for an update and thought it was going to take ages to arrive because it hadn't even been scanned in Auckland yet.
Then I found the WNDirect website and plugged in my tracking # and omg, I've been stressing for no reason at all...
And after clicking the Fastway link I find that it's on the delivery vehicle and on its way to my house right now! I guess I'm doing some agar tonight
