Hay guys I got a rookey question here. But exactly what would happen if I mixed spores from 2 different sub species of cubnsis in a cake like say pink buffalo and idk Cambodia. Would the cake devide and fruit 2 different species or would they cross and create a different strain altogether?

This is also a worthy read: https://www.shroomery.org/13887/Strains-varieties-species
Any two mating hyphae will create a new individual with (slightly) unique DNA (strain). Regardless of if the two spores are from different sub species or from the same cap, the result will be of the same "species"; cubensis in this case. Since there will be MILLIONS (or more) spores from the two different prints, some will be the offspring of a single mushroom whom would retain their "race" and some will be the offspring of the different varieties creating a hybrid "race", or... subspecies or whatever you want to call it. Check out the link, it's good reading.

Thank you guys for the info. I’m new to the forum and have not had enough time to learn to navigate let alone soak in the wealth of knowledge on here. I actually new to the fungi world as far as the cultivation part. I am only on my 3rd set of pf cakes. I do have to say it is a lot o fun. I’ve been growing cannabis for about 20 years and this new venture my friend turned me into is a total game changer. Fast/economical/and low maintenance. And the bonus of not dealing with shady people. Thanks again

Forum Rule:
1. Please use the search posts function before asking a question. Your question has already been asked and answered hundreds of times, so don't think you're going to get a better answer by asking it again. In the 'search posts' link at the top of the page, you can select an individual user or the trusted cultivator group as a whole to filter results to come only from them. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/14960167
Oh, and as always, the surest route to success is hours upon hours of reading the extensive amount of resources all of us shroomery members have available to us through the search function.

An analogy I haven't seen used here but should be is this:
Those names, like Equador, Cambodia, Penis Envy, etc. They are like last names in humans, they don't mean anything in relation to something like a 'species' or 'sub-species', they are far closer to family names in humans.
E.g. Donald Trump is more closely related to Eric Trump than he is to Billy Bush, but they are indeed the same species.
It's hard to force the spores you want together but if your able to interbreed between families then you often improve the genetic diversity of your samples and future grows with them.
