dehydrator?

hey guys quick question if using a food dehydrator what temp? is 165 deg F too hot? I did a quick search and some people say no heat some say yes and I have some sitting in front of a fan but I just got a food dehydratpor but it only works at 165 deg so I want to know real quick so if it is too hot I can quickly run out and exchange it for another one so hopefully I can get them dry asap THANKS GUYS!!!!

The higher you set the temp the better. 165 should work great. :mushroom2:

REALLY doesn't heat degrade the lovely chemical we all love? this is why I get confused some say NOT to use heat I even read that if you cant adjust the heat litterly cut the wire inside the dehydrator to cut off the heat (ill just get another if that is the case) then I read you should use heat as you suggested maybe some of this could be old info? and people have realized since heat is fine?

I'm not sure where you are sourcing your info on the heat degrading the chemical, this question comes up a here often I'm sure a quick search will reveal that the major consensus at the "Shroomery" is that heat will not degrade it so much so you can boil it at a higher temperature from what you would get with a dehydrator without losing potency and make a tea...

This has been answered a million times, and what didn't get cleaned up in one of the great garbage purges in recent years is still easily searched and discoverable.

Also, not to get technical, but this is not a cultivation question/thread.

Heat doesn't harm the actives. Heating preserves them.

ok guys thank you! I did search and found many different things and yeh a lot says heat is ok but I have also read other specific temps I remember reading 1 that says not to go over 125. that's why I brought it here...and look I am sure you've all been there its my first grow so trying to cram all this info down at once gets my brain all messy...I was also told how quickly you dry them can make a difference the longer it takes to dry it can somehow loose potency is this right??? that is another part of the reason I brought it here cause well picked some and wanted to dry them asap because of this so I figured this would be the quickest way to get a few answers from a few different people to see what is agreed. looking back though all the stuff I read and trying to figure this out would take longer and like I said I wanted to get them dry asap....but THANK YOU GUYS!!!

When the question has been answered a thousand times over don't sweat the inevitable handful of idiots, trolls, or noobs and go creating ANOTHER thread about this that the people managing the site will have to clean up.

Also, the more people that pick & nag at an answered question (thoroughly answered) with their unfounded noob insecurities, it will just cause more of the same type of confusion for the next noob when they see it, and create a sense of entitlement to the next noob that will think it's okay to re-ask every question so they can "hear it" said directly to them on that particular day...

It is counterproductive.

I am ALWAYS scared I am going to screw something up when I try something new in this hobby. However, after doing the research... I just try it. The shroomery is great, and when used with some common sense and reasonable powers of deduction it is very reliable. For now, until you get comfortable let all of the posts by TCs guide you.
