That's a shame. It was sold to me as a trichocereus pachanoi. Do you think there is a chance that it is? Are there poisonous non-active cereus I should be aware of?

sorry man thats a bummer. You can tell by the pronounced flat ribs that its not a pachanoi, or trichocereus for that matter. Im not very well versed in the compounds found in those cactus and if they would make you ill. I dont think consuming it would put you in the hostpital but it wont give you any redeemable effects unless your looking to puke your guts up. I definitley wouldnt try it, but ive seen others use it as grafting stock for other cuttings, and they have beautiful flowers when they bloom.
