After reading many, many, many posts on here about mutant blobs, I've come to the conclusion of two points:

A.)  They occur because the cakes were not consolidated i.e. waiting week after full colonization (this was my case and RR hasn't stressed it enough already on these forums)

B.)  This is quite common on first flush with PE (as I have experienced just recently)

This is my 2nd flush taken a few moments ago.  No mutant blobs at all and look at the size of the fruit 7 days after dunk...

For what it is worth, I have had B+ blob on agar. I'm not sure if I had already switched over to low nute agar mix. For reference I made the move from 1:1 to 3/4:1 ratio of LME:AGAR. If I were betting I'd put my money on the surface conditions having more to do with it than the nute mix. Blobs are mutations which are expressed based on conditions, so probably more than one reason to mutate including contams. My dish looked clean, but it's possible contams were the culprit in my scenario.
