First grow: 6 cakes with only 4 pins - Am I overthinking this?

Hey guys, first time grower and longtime lurker here. I've finally decided to give growing a shot using PF Tek. I've got 6 cakes that I transferred to my SGFC 5 days ago. I've had 2 pins emerge after 2 days along with 2 smaller pins. I haven't seen any other pins emerge. I'm not quite sure if this is normal as I am under the impression that I should be seeing a lot more pinning.

Here's the overview & setup:
6 fully colonized brf cakes with B+ that I dunked for (24) hours and rolled them in coarse vermiculite (I realize now that I should have used fine vermiculite). They're in my SGFC  built to spec with 1/4-inch holes 2-inches apart top-to-bottom and side-to-side on all six sides. I have a 4.5-inch layer of moist perlite and my FC is raised by (4) 1/2-pint jars to allow airflow underneath and I'm using indirect sunlight from a nearby window for lighting. RH in my house is about 60%.

I was happy to see pins early on. However, I haven't seen anything else emerge and the ones I do have  keep growing. I've been reading so much conflicting information about that I am just not sure what I should be doing as I have no real point of reference.

I'm misting and fanning daily--probably misting 3-4 times a day and fanning 5-6 times a day.

I'm noticing mild blueing of the cakes and what looks like white fuzz at the base of the pins. Also, I'm not sure if the cap colors are darker than they should be. What do I do when the few pins I have stop growing? Do I need to remove, re-dunk, and roll my substrate again?

I am hoping you guys could take a look at the pictures and tell me if things look right based on what you see. Thanks a lot.

The lid is on the FC. Always is until it's time for misting/fanning. It's summer so the temps in the room range from 72 - 82. I try to keep it at 76 or so. It's hard to tell if they are dry because I have been regularly misting and my the RH in the room is about 60%. I lifted the cakes too to feel if they were light and they really didn't feel light--however, I have no point of reference. I appreciate your input.

Shit, I wish my pins came in 5 days. My cakes have been taking upwards of 7-10 days, but then they explode.

There's some now on days 10-14, but when I went to work they were generally tiny, but now bigger than my thumb..

Patience man. Once they "take off", maturing is a very incredibly quick process. 24-72h max in ideal conditions.

The fact you got pins in 5 days means you're doing it right. And they look nice and healthy, too.

Sounds and looks like you did a great job.

Hang in there just a little longer. You're not far away from the finish line I promise

I appreciate the feedback and will  be more patient while doing what I'm doing.

The only question I have at this point is what to do when the few mushrooms I have are fully grown? Do I pick them and flush the cakes or wait for more pins to appear?

Dunk them when they feel dry and spent. They'll be light and feel nothing like a freshly dunked cake. They'll have plenty of discoloration, like a grey/green/blue, and will look shriveled.

You can dunk them for just a few hours. Or if they have pins, place them in a shallow dish. They'll soak everything up and spread it through the network. Once they're already fruiting they can grow real fast, so if any pins get dunked, remove them so the cake can make healthy ones again. Otherwise you can get rotted caps or splitting or mutations. Let the cake focus on producing healthy ones in proper conditions.

Twist and pull fruits do there's no leftover tissue hanging around. That's a great way to go moldy or spoil.

If you're using a shallow dish to rehydrate, you can just pick whenever you want. Cakes don't really have 1-2-3 flushes like tubs. More like 1.5-2-0.5

Thanks for the super helpful response.  I now think I have a good idea of what to look for before dunking again. I gently picked up  2-3 cakes and they feel pretty solid. Is it possible they could be waterlogged?

Do you recommend using a shallow dish over dunking? Or is the shallow dish really only applicable if I am trying to rehydrate an already pinning cake?

I also added updated pics and you can see some blue bruising. Any and all feedback welcome. Thanks again.

Next time around try to feel the heft of them when they come out of the dunk. They'll never feel exactly like that weight after dunking since fruits come off, but they shouldn't feel light and airy and fragile or shriveled. If they have a little weight to them and otherwise feel healthy, and you don't think they need a full dunk, just take a syringe with no needle and casually apply a few ml to the top of the cake. I sometimes do this when the cakes have fired off a lot of fruits and haven't exactly dried out, and don't need a full dunk.

Say a cake threw off five big fruits but during that process new ones started to grow that aren't done yet. I'll either shallow-dish it inside the FC, or apply to the top of the cake if no fruits or pins are present on the top.

Just keep in mind you're not trying to water them like plants. You're just trying to get back to that max capacity. Max capacity will change as it loses mass through fruiting. So as long as it's generally got some weight to it, it's not shriveled, cracking or severe bluing, if has enough water. Most people overmist, so water content shouldn't be a generally bi issue unless you're tackling it after you've harvested fruits.
