Another Newbie Contam. Question
    #26099836 - 07/10/19 09:30 AM (5 years, 6 months ago)

Hello Shroomerites,
It's been quite some time since I have been active on the forums, but I have a question regarding a current grow that a friend out in Denver is attempting.

He is using the basic 2-tub PF beginner's tek with 12 BRF cakes, six from a Thai strain and six "B+". They've been growing a couple weeks, and the Thai jars are almost completely covered on the outside with strong, thick mycelial growth than I would hope to see. They are colonizing much faster than anticipated.

The B+ jars are another story. Three of the jars were completely covered in fuzzy white growth within a few days/a week tops. This was concerning to him. It does not look like the thick string-like growth he is used to seeing and would expect. Are there common contaminates with BRF cakes that could look this way? Is there a chance that the cakes colonized remarkably fast, perhaps because a larger number of spores made it into the substrate?

The other three B+ jars have some thick ropy mycelium development on one side of the jar, indicating each jar only had one successful inoculation out of the four injection ports used. Otherwise their growth looks healthy.

Thank you for any and all input! He feels he has to figure out what's up with them before the Thai jars are fully colonized and waiting to be birthed. :mushroom2:

The solid white jar looks like it's contaminated with pin mold. The rest looks fine.

Thanks y'all. They have been removed from the incubation chamber. The rate at which it developed was a big red flag it showed up within a few days.

If you are gonna BS with the whole "asking for a friend" stuff, you might as well BS and say they are living in Oakland... Much more thoroughly decriminalized there lol, even for cultivation.

You're not wrong my friend. I am well aware that posting from that perspective does absolutely nothing to increase anonymity or anything else, I did so kind of jokingly. I trust that the Shroomery's advanced web security systems are a whole lot more effective than SWIMming through the forums or asking about dosage questions for pet hamsters and such
