Celebrity suicide * 1
    #26095550 -

How do you feel about it when it happens? Do you care?

I had two that effected me. First was Anthony Bourdain. Not because I liked him but because I used to joke all the time that I knew he would do it. When it finally happened I was like, fuck man why did I know that was going to happen? Kinda scary. He was actually the second suicide I predicted in my life

The other was Chris Cornell. Soundgarden was one of the first bands I ever listened to. I always found that his brand of sadness really spoke to me. The fact that he kept making music gave me hope for my own life, after he killed himself I really kinda lost that hope. I'm pretty much convinced I will take my own life someday. I'm a lot better now, but he is like 20 years older than me so I figure it's probably my fate.

Has any celebrity death really gotten to you?

What made you sure Bourdain would off himself? He never struck me as particularly depressed or suicidal. In fact, he’s one of the less likely people I’d ever have  expected to have killed themselves

I guess if you aren't suicidal it's hard to see it. He was so sarcastic about the most amazing things, he made life a giant joke. I'm sure many saw it as his sense of humor but I knew it for what it was, hating life and everything in it.

My next prediction is Patton Oswald. He would have done it already but he has a young daughter. After she graduates from college I think he will join his wife

Meh bourdain wasnt that upsetting to me I almost expected something like that from him. Robin Williams kind of got to me a little. Everytime I see his face in his old videos or pictures I just think why Robin why. I just wish something could have been don or said by someone or everyone. But if he really was that sad I guess it's ok he left.

He was actually sick, it's apparently some brain disorder that can only be diagnosed right now by taking a piece of brain. More than just depression, he was pretty much doomed

Robin Williams, my favourite actor. Was pretty upset when he passed. Actually found my self always saying " damn, he's actually gone" was quite upset to.
Mac Miller as well, hated the fact one of my favourite rappers passed! Last song of his said it all though.

I think it’s childish to take celebrity deaths personally. Idgaf unless I like what they do then it’s only as upsetting as their show being cancelled or the band breaking up or whatever. You don’t know the person. They wouldn’t care if you died. I just don’t get it.

Actually, it’s the same way when a shroomery member dies. The only relevance to me is they’re not going to post anymore. I actually got banned for a year for ridiculing people’s ā€œgriefā€ when a member died.

If someone has kids and they off themselves or take a fatal dose of drugs I think they’re selfish assholes.

Murder is a little different because then you have someone who was taken unfairly.

I do not look at every case whether it involves children or not and imediately think that person is a coward and took the easy way out. There are instances where a person's physical life situation took a turn for the negative and their response was to end it or "walk away". That could possibly be labeled as that. But there are instances where a person succumbs to their own brain chemestry and there is a physical chemical presence in the brain blocking communication to the regions of the brain responsible for rationality and control. Excaerbation and escalation play significant roles in the suddeness of suicide, and not everyone does it to take the easy way out, I believe. They came to a point where many of their senses and inabitions were dulled do to circumstance and/or brain chemestry. There is no honer in taking your own life, but sometimes it just happens like that...before intervention can be bestowed.

Shlong's OD had the most impact on me of anyone here who died, mostly because I can relate to his having a young family and so on. Just so senseless, and I had no clue he had this problem. Seemed like a decent guy who had things together, and he was someone I considered a friend though I only talked to him in threads on here. Yes it was arguably selfish and all that but I'm not sure that gets us anywhere.

With Robin Williams' suicide I had a similar reaction of it being unexpected, though in retrospect there maybe were signs that he was going through some shit. But it would be foolish to imagine I knew the guy in any real way from seeing him onscreen.

Chris Cornell was hard for me, always was a big fan. I don't think he was a suicide though, imo he was exit bagged and made to look like he can't handle one or two lorazepams. A case like Robin Williams though, he had that weird Parkinson's thing that's not Parkinson's but kills you anyway. I don't feel like looking it up but if you only have a few years and the last half is likely some scary shit for your family then you are in fact doing the honourable thing. As a father, and a husband. As someone who has a family. Fuck what anyone else thinks of it. He didn't want to suffer or have his loved one's idea of him ruined throughout this torment of an ordeal. Sometimes there aren't good decisions just the best ones at the time. Can't just put yourself in someone's shoes you gotta live in 'em.

Celebrity suicides/deaths don’t really mean that much to me any more, as I didn’t know the person.  I’ve had a lot of friends and family members pass away, and by now the death of someone I’ve never met, while sad, doesn’t really mean much to me personally.  I do remember that I was real bummed out when Kurt Cobain died, but that was kind of a dramatic kid hero-worship thing.  I was 12, and a huge Nirvana fan at the time.

Like psi, the shroomery death that gets me the most is shLong’s.  Last month was two years on from his passing, and I still think of him a lot.  Just such a loss for everyone who knew him.  And I feel bad for him too- I don’t think I believe in any kind of afterlife, but I really hope there’s some way he’s still able to watch his daughter grow up.

Kate Spade hung herself with a scarf from a doorknob in one of her bedrooms.

Anthony Bourdain hung himself from a doorknob using the belt from his bathrobe.
Bourdains long time girlfriend Asia Argento, who was raped by Harvey Weinstein, soon before Anthony’s death, made a speech at the Cannes Film Festival calling out sexual predators in Hollywood.

The younger sister of the Queen of Netherlands hung herself from a doorknob after the queens mother in law had to step down after allegations of hosting hunts, in which guests would supposedly hunt down, rape and murder children.

Chris Cornell hung himself with an elastic workout band from a doorknob after Chris’s friend, Chester Bennington, hung himself with his belt from a doorknob.
Both Chris and Chester ever very vocal about trying to save children from a high level sex ring.

L’Ren Stott hung, the ex girlfriend of Chris Rothschild hung herself from a doorknob with a red scarf.

Fashion designer Alexander McQueen hung himself with a scarf from a doorknob.

Robin Willians hung himself with a tie from a doorknob.

Aaron Schwartz hung himself from a doorknob after hacking into the MIT database and finding an archive of child pornography.

Michael Hutchesen hung himself from a doorknob.

I think it’s rather easy to see what I’m getting at.

And with things like Smallville actresse Allison Mack’s sex cult, the exposure of Harvey Weinstein, thousands of migrant children disappearing along the boarder, shipping containers of children being found in Minnesota, and the arrest of billionaire Jeffery Epstein just a few days ago for sexually trafficking underage children, I really don’t see how any of this is too hard to believe. But feel free to do your own research.

If it's so rare and difficult to believe, wouldn't this child rapist shadow group come up with a more standard suicide method? Wouldn't it be just as easy to force them to swallow a bunch of pills, or bleed them out in a bathtub, or jump off a roof? Getting hung on a doorknob when you don't want to sounds far more ridiculous than if it were suicide.

I don't buy conspiracy theories. Humans are idiots, we would uncover these shadow groups on a regular basis because they would make mistakes, slip up, get caught. That's exactly what Rosewell was, we got caught trying to spy on Russians, and in trying to cover it up the government accidentally stumbled on a beautiful and perfect way to cover up all future weapons tests caught by witnesses: blame it on aliens and let the discredit of those idiots speak for themselves. Nobody ever looks into anything because who would believe those nutjobs

But I do find it interesting that you are so unwilling to believe in suicide. Maybe you had one in your own life and didn't want to believe it was true? Or maybe the idea of these successful people offing themselves is just too much for you to handle? That's kinda fascinating, I'm curious what other, if any, conspiracy theories you believe in

Doesn't seem like a very practical method of killing someone else or yourself, but it could be that someone is just staging the bodies that way after strangling them without using the doorknob.

Jeez...

You don't tie your robe belt, rope, tie, whatever to the doorknob on *this* side. You tie it on the *other* side, run it over the top of the door, and stand on a chair or ladder whereupon you affix the noose to your soon-to-be highly discolored neck-like apparatus. Step off your elevated platform and - VOILA! - you are truly well hung.

I'm not quite sure I agree with the Bourdain suicide being a murder that was staged.

I'm somewhat of an Anthony Bourdain "Stan" -- watched literally every one hour episode of Parts Unknown (there were 12 seasons) and most if not all of his No Reservations series as well.

The week of his suicide, paparazzi photos surfaced of Asia Argento (his then girlfriend, who close friends of his say he was "lovestruck" by) and another man being really, really close with each other. After the fact Argento pretty much admitted to cheating on him by defending herself saying "hey he cheated on me too".

After the photos were released Bourdain then reportedly made a cryptic tweet and un-followed her on Twitter. Days later he committed suicide.

And the most telling thing of all to me -- his best friend, Eric Ripert, who was actually with him on that final episode where Bourdain committed suicide (and staying in the same hotel), and Asia Argento, they both never questioned it.

If there's anybody on this planet who knew Bourdain well enough to wonder about his suicide, it was those two. And they never questioned it.

I think he just killed himself over Argento.

Just my two cents.

Some creepy coincidences there.

yeah it is.

also creepy coincidence that Dimebag was murdered on December 8th, 2004, while John Lennon was murdered on December 8th, 1980. other than the date being exactly the same, i dont think there's anything else to it. but who knows? maybe there's more!

That’s clever. I didn’t think of that and I’m probably too stupid to have ever figured it out.

He didn't. It's called the pass out game. Been around for a long time.

Me and my brother used to take bong rips and then do it. Until he started having a seizure. Then we never did it again. My friend still always wanted it done. He was a crazy fuck who would choke himself for fun though.

You don’t even need to compress your chest. Exhaling a deeply held breath while standing up can cause you to pass out

They definitely affect me.

Anthony Bourdain was a real bummer. I really liked his show. Very entertaining. But looking back, he definitely had some depressive, negative thoughts going on in his head. So sad.

The other ones that really got me were Robin Williams and Greg Giraldo. Robin Williams was one of my favorite actors, and a pretty damn funny comedian. And Greg Giraldo was one of my favorite comics as well, my favorite type of far-out comedy. He was a genius in the comedy world. Hearing your favorite comics, who are meant to make you laugh, take their own lives is really depressing. Its a sad thing to hear comedy so close to depression and suicide, it shouldn't be like that but it is. Makes me lose a little hope in life. But like all things, you just move on and try to forget it happened.

Always miss them, never forgotten  :nonono:

Michael Hutchins -

Responding to Yates' public comments that Hutchence's suicide was a result of her contentious divorce and the on-going court battles over custody of the couple's three daughters, Geldof, who acknowledged talking to Hutchence before his death, told the Daily Express, "He called up in the early hours of the morning, and I couldn't understand a word he said. I just put the phone down."

The paper reported that Geldof told friends he and Hutchence had not argued during the conversation, one of the many Geldof said Hutchence had initiated over the past few months. Hutchence is reported to have told Geldof "she's not your wife anymore" during their final conversation.

Not to mention Peaches Geldoff was found dead from an overdose or something, and she was involved with helping expose the pedo ring/slave trafficking. She was speaking out about it very loudly, and then BAM, dead. Just like cornell and  bennington.

Peaches Geldoff was an addict. Addicts die from overdoses. Not everything is a conspiracy. In fact, very few things are. People make mistakes and sometimes those mistakes are fatal.

You seem to find a lot coincidences in randomness. Even when events may be related, like two friends killing themselves within a few months, there are much more common sense explanations than a conspiracy -successful suicide attempts can be inspirational to other suicidal people, for example.

I think suicide affects us because it reminds us of how fragile the human psyche can be as well as of our own mortality. I still believe that suicide is a long term solution to a short term problem.
The problem with drug overdoses is that you don't really know whether it was an accident or not, usually unless there was a note or something.

I don't know whether ShLongs' death was one or the other but I hope it was an accident....I knew through older threads that he struggled with addiction and I know that this can be debilitating to your psyche if you try and fail to stop over and over.
Truth is that ShLong contacted me and asked if I wanted to purchase a cutting board a month or so before he died, because I had mentioned it in the past and because he said he was short on cash. I sent the money up front and he was true to his word...I think I may have gotten the last one he made, He was very talented at this craft.
I guess his passing bothered me the most because I saw a younger version of myself in him, albeit, the poison that I chose was alcohol.
I saw that it could have been me many times during my addiction, in his shoes. I know that hopelessness but I also know that it doesn't have to be that way and that there is a way up and a way out no matter how low you think you are. Anyway, the last thing I want to do is preach here, just be aware that there is the word "hope" in "hopeless":sunny::peace:

That totally makes sense, I’m pretty resourceful but never thought of doing it that way. I’m sure very few other people have. Deep down I still believe the celebrity door hangings are executions. I think that an ex heroin addict like Cornell would want to go out with a massive dose of heroin. There were many other celebrity hangings too that aren’t mentioned in this thread. I didn’t know who they were other than they were actors that hung themselves. I even started a thread very similar to this one about a year ago.
As someone else mentioned, I also view Robin Williams suicide as honorable. He knew he was on the fast path to severe dementia which would be a living Hell for him and his loved ones. I would do the same if I were in that position, but I’d choose another method. As a healthcare worker, I’ve seen countless people living the shittiest life imaginable, and modern medicine is determined to keep them living as long as possible. It’s a fate much worse than death itself, which comes anyway. Life is torture for these people, and the lack of legal assisted suicide in the US is shameful. I’ve actually thought of potential suicide methods for nearly 20 years, always revising my plan in case the time comes.
