Tents and Bedding
    #26095518 -

Just used a instant pop-up tent for last weekend camping in the forest. Worked great! So much easier to set up. Pop-Up tents FTW.

Used a air-filled Twin bed for sleeping on. I used to hate blow-up beds but this worked great! Perfect size and didn't deflate that much. I didn't even bottom-out (yes!)

What do you use for a Tent? Do you even use a tent? And what kind of bedding do you like when you camp?

I think a tent is necessary mostly for bugs. I have a cheapass tent that works great but it's not exactly carbon fiber poles. Last time I went I just did a tarp and rope to protect against wind and it worked great. Definitely not for the faint of heart, sleeping without a full enclosure is freaky but freeing. I think I'm just going to buy a big hunk of bug net and skip the tent most of the time

I actually have a really nice blow-up mattress and I use Reflectix as a base so it doesn't get punctured. It makes for a bulky package but it's pretty light and you could practically sleep on soaking wet and frozen ground and stay warm

When it's warm, I only sleep in the tent f it's raining. I sleep by the fire every time.

Otherwise, I would take a sleeping mat or my cot. The cot is heavier, but doable.

A cot and sleeping mat is great.

I use a tent with two poles that's pretty easy to set up. It's a pretty standard tent, but I like that it's easy to set up (having only two poles), and that it goes into a pretty small case when it's done (that it actually fits in much to my surprise). I put a tarp down below the tent as well.

For bedding, I put a wool blanket down first, then some comforters/blankets, then a sleeping bag (zero degree rated). I also bring a pillow. Pretty simple.

If I want to keep it minimal, I'll just take the tent, tarp, and sleeping bag. I don't really mind sleeping on hard ground that much.
