How to deal with oyster spore drop

I know howto grow cubes. I love growing them. But life situations do not,and foo for the foreseeable future will not allow me to grow them.

So, I've decided I will grow gourmet mushrooms. It seems there is much less detailed information about these.

Anyway, I've decided on blue oysters to start,and maybe some shiitake. I will likely make up a large bed outside. But I alsowant to do an indoor monotub-esque grow to keep a year round cycle(plus it looks cool).

I have chosen the oyster mushroom because it can grow on basically anything. This is appealing.

But, being inside my home, I am concerned about the notorious spore load of oysters, and I'll surely let them drop. At least as I learn them

So how could I contain these spores? I've thought of running an exhaust fan in the tub, with a hepa type filter, this should be sufficient to contain them? It would probably clog quickly though. Perhaps a pre filter would be of use? And of course pulling air in through a perlite chamber to keep humidity up.

Is there a better solution? Maybe cover the top of an unmodified tub with something like pantyhose, and mist? Hoping the moisture would cause the spores to clump and get trapped?

Also, I'm seeing mixed opinions on hwfp.  If I were to spawn grain to hwfp/verm, it seems I could skip supplementation as the added grain would qualify as such. If so, would this substrate require sterilization? Or could I pasteurize it? Idk about wood, since all I've ever been interested in is cubes. And hoogs.

Or does anyone have a suggestion on another species to grow indoor? I want to keep the setup as basic as possible. I'll not be building a greenhouse and setting up automated anything

Ive seen enoki fruit well in monos. I may try those. But I believe they would require sterilizing supped sawdust blocks, which I would prefer to avoid. I'm not opposed to bottle culturing them, though. But they are much less attractive than oysters or a shiitake.

Oysters take a lot of FAE. I don't think they will do well in a mono tub. Shiitake takes at least 3 months from spawn to harvest.

The time frame is irrelevant. I don't really care how long it takes. Other than the time frame, there's no real issue correct? I'm aware that they too would require more air than cubes. Maybe I'm using the monotub a bit inappropriately. Like I said I'm not opposed to forced air exchange. There's even strains that fruit in warm temperatures and "prolifically" on straw, which I assume would be more readily digested and therefore quicker to harvest than the standard sawdust block, no?

But as for air exchange, I'm aware they would take a lot, in case it wasn't clear- i meant to completely remove the lid from the tub in exchange for a permeable membrane. Would that not allow sufficient fae, being an open tub? If not, i alsosuggested that i could utilize a small exhaust fan on the tub. It would have to exhaust, so it could pull through a filter and catch the spores.

But having learned of this SPOPPO, this makes the tub unnecessary. That strain would be suitable for an open environment...I'm thinking RR's straw log with a sheet of well punctured poly draped over.

But, do you have a better suggestion?

Are you thinking decorative? like sitting on a kitchen table as a center piece? or off in a corner of the living room? Or even sitting next to your easy chair under a glass showcase??

My suggestion although you don't want to do it. Is to set up a small chamber of some sort. I would suggest a passive intake air system and a low-velocity circulation fan on the inside. The low-velocity circulation fan will cut down on the need for FAE, but you will still need to exchange the air probably at least 3 times an hour. The passive system will basically stop the spores from getting into your house because air will be going through a pipe to the outside by a fan hooked up to the exhaust duct this will suck the spores out. When the exhaust fan comes on fresh air will be drawn into the chamber through a duct with a flapper on it (LINK FOR FLAPPER). Have the exhaust fan come on 3 times an hour to start with if you have a circulation fan. If you don't have a circulation fan you will need to exchange the air closer to 6 times an hour. The circulation fan stays on 24/7 and is just circulating air. It is not blowing on the mushrooms. The circulation fan will not allow for stagnating air with high co2 levels to stay around the mushrooms cutting down on the need for fresh air. Cutting down on the need for FAE will also keep your humidification system (pond fogger) from having to run so long or so hard. If you made it this far and did not stop reading. I know this is not what you wanted to hear. It is, however, your best option in my opinion.

Well im not entirely opposed to the idea. It's somewhat in line with what I'm thinking awa already. I never thought to just exhaust outside the house, wow.

And it's not so much that i don't want to, but it's not really feasible (space restrictions) for me to build a big fancy greenhouse type setup.

However, I could run with this idea. Have a tub with perlite/hydroton bed, probably hydroton. And an aquarium bubbler running into it. Use a pc fan or similar to vent out the window 15 on/15 off. (Or maybe 2 fans on alternate cycles) they have to go off cause ime fans don't last long under constant operation, any fan. Just have to make sure the exhaust is stronger than the aquarium pump so it maintains negative pressure.

I will look into the fogger as well, but I've never used one and as such don't know much about how I'd set it up to operate. Would i just set it up in sync with the exhaust fan so when it blows it's sucking in fresh humid air? Or it would probably be better to set it on an opposing cycle, so the exhaust dries it, then rehumidify.

I actually meant suggestions as in for a better suited species, though

And in case I'm coming off argumentative, that's not my intention

Yeah, kinda decorative. I used to have cube grows in nice glass bottles sitting out on the shelf.

But I am aware that this is not going to be a centrepiece
