shall I do this?
    #2609074 - 04/28/04 12:02 AM (13 years, 2 months ago)

well......I inoculated 1 out of three of my jars well over 2 weeks ago,and 2 of the three jars almost a week ago.
In the oldest jar there are some first signs(barely noticeable)of mycelium growth,or what I think is mycelium anyways, and in the other two younger jars there is almost just as much mycelium in those as there is in the oldest jar.
I have two generic tyvek filters on each jar, both under the lid of course.
I was thinking of doing this:Heating my oven up to 250degrees and placing the jars on the rack(avoiding contams)and then taking off one of the two tyvek filters so my jars could breathe more.
Do you think the reason my jars arent colonizing very fast is due to the lack of oxygen?(two filters instead of one)
Thanks for any input!
Peace,
PF~

I'm kinda doubting that air exchange is problem at this point. If they are just showing growth the air already inside the jar should be just fine. I would give it a little while before I took the filters off since even if you use the oven tek you stand a pretty good chance of infection if you open those babies up. Make sure that all of the other parameters are up to par such as temp, which should be from 83-86deg.
