Jalisco - Panaeolus?
    #26090195 -

Does anyone have any idea of what species these could be? Found them in early July, in the state of Jalisco, Mexico.

-Growing in cow/horse pastures
-Black gills, black spore print
-Does not bruise blue
-Convex cap when young, almost completely flat when old
-Some have umbo, some don't

-Definitely psychedelic

I went hunting with people who apparently go every year & know what to look for. They told me confidently that these were exactly what we were looking for, while I'm still worried about the black spore print & the non-bluing

We took some, & they definitely contain psilocybin or something. Is that even possible in the absence of blue bruising?

Thanks for your help!

Lack of blue bruising is not a guarantee of a mushrooms activity. Just has heavily bruising is necessarily a sign of extremly potent mushrooms.

Definitely placebo effect.  I see Agaricus,  and 1 maybe 2 Panaeolus antillarum.  Nothing in those pictures are active

Hahha I thought the same thing, but it's a culture here that everyone seems to know about. There's a famous Mexican mycologist, Gastón Guzmán, who's been cataloging little-known local sub-species for many years.

Is it possible that there are locally-evolved, non-mainstream sub-genres of active psychedelic mushrooms with their own non-mainstream characteristics? Or is that completely out of the question....

Out of the question, those are common, non active mushrooms
