That will work. Should we do it like we did in the past, and have people declare if they are playing for $20?

Andrew luck retiring is pretty crazy. And he got booed walking out off the sideline haha. Curious if Mariota will be a Titan next year. As a fan of the team idk how to feel. Kinda hope we suck dick and get rid of him but with luck out the AFC south is more open so if Mariota can play good I think we'll have a shot. Always feels like this when were 0-0 though
Also it took me like 30 minutes to figure out how to get back in that pick em league and I'm the damn admin

Thoughts on Luck retirement:
1) He was great a Stanford 2) His NFL trajectory was amazing 3) I think he’s going to re-enter the NFL in two years and he’s going to make sure he has a great o-line 4) Colts fans had the right to boo him. It comes with the salary and not giving the team a heads up during the off-season. I personally don’t hold it against him but he’s not a Falcon either. 5) I bet despite the good natured farewell there’s going to be some squabbling between him and the Colts over contract money. He might have to pay damages. 6) I didn’t hear him or anyone else say he’s fortunate to be in a financial situation where he has the luxury to quit. 7) It reminds me of when that guy from the Bills quit at halftime recently.

They said his first three years were the best statistical years any quarterback ever had. He was out or playing injured ever since then.
I can't remember. Was drafting Luck the reason why Indy got rid of Peyton Manning?

If I remember correctly, I think Manning's neck injury was what got him out of there, and Luck came along at the right time. I could be mistaken.

Ya it was really a combo of both. Indy would have kept manning over any other QB besides luck or like Brady probably but him being out a whole year there back ups went 2-14 so they ended up with the first pick. Kind of a perfect storm.

Peyton would have never put up with that no o-line no RB BS they pulled on Luck at the get-go.
It’s a symptom of the nfl obsession with putting all the chips into one player (the qb) and being all about that pass about that pass bout that pass no run
But that shit is already dying because same as ever a football is a team game and you need balance and no weak spots.
A weak right tackle is enough to ruin your season.

I agree. And that is how Green Bay is squandering Aaron Rodgers career, and probably the same with Marino on the Dolphins. Having a great QB doesn't work with deficiencies on the O line, running game and defense. The era of the highly paid superstar doesn't change the fact that it's a team game.

GB payed rodgers too much, so no oline or dst. Seattle is paying Russel too much so no oline and vastly inferior dst. Ravens overpaid Flacco and he's a Bronco now.

I agree, the salaries for the marquis players now a-days are pretty much robbing Peter to pay Paul. It always seems to be the o-line that gets hit the hardest with the scraps of salary cap money. The thing is that with good coaching and a little luck health wise, some of these sub par o-lines begin to gel around the mid point of the season and start acting like a professional group of linemen. They kinda learn on the job. I remember watching Romo just getting whacked and crumbling to the ground time after time because of f-ed up o-line. Flacco went through it too after signing that ridiculous contract. It seems like the league is doing everything it can to protect the quarterbacks except the obvious which is up to the teams. I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of salary cap on players positions with a yearly graduation that would help spread some of the money around and still be fair to legitimate super stars.

Good o-line coaches are crucial but if you want your team in the playoffs the need to have together the day the regular season starts.
(With an occasional exception of course)

Finally, GB-CHI. Mack is a beast of course. Who would you take in this game. I have no clue about what Green Bay will be this year. Been in the wilderness for awhile but back to learn a bit. Been out of the media loop.
So I know Chicago pretty well. G.B. is a mystery to me besides Rodgers of course. 3 point difference for Chicago. Want to go with Green Bay so much but I don't think they will do it. Thoughts on this opener of the season?
Am a fan of the Broncos by the way. So it is completely objective. No fandom, base it in reason. But I know how hard that is starting the season. God help the Redskins starting Casey this year. At least the Broncos got one during Peyton and it was because of the defense. Skin fans, been a long time.
Anyway, thoughts on this game?

Are we doing the pick em this year?
I’d bet on Chicago. I’ve got a lot of the Montgomery kid and really hope he delivers

Leaning towards Chicago at home. Maybe start the thread if you want. Shit I will. I live next to Nevada. I bet and pick quite a bit. A lot of insightful people on the shroomery yet most are hometown fans and don't pay much attention to the rest of the league.
Guilty of that myself. Time to get back into research. Was going to go bet on the Chargers at 7. No RB. And does homefield even matter there? Picking is easy, the spread is a much different animal.
Seriously start a thread soon just pick the winner. I'll play. For fun of course and to learn. My long term vacations are only in the Summer.
