Drying setup question
    #26088538 - 07/03/19 04:52 PM (4 years, 8 months ago)

Came home and all the veils broke so time to dry and totally unprepared. Will this space heater set up work? Just wondering how far down to keep the heater and should I enclose it with a blanket or something?

That will work fine, don't worry about low heat and never enclose a heater in a blanket, that's a fire hazard.

I would go to your local Walmart and buy a dehydrator.

I wouldn't buy a dehydrator period. I built mine for less than 40 bucks and it will hold over a half pound dry (in excess of 2kg wet) no problem and is cracker dry in 24-36 hours. Good luck doing that in a store bought model.

I bet that's not adequate to finish drying. I would buy a dehydrator to properly finish them before storing.

Don't listen to professorx

Actually dont listen to u lol. Dehydrators are too small. What I did worked amazing, only problem was made my house hot as hell. Cracker dry in 12 hours, a few big ones took a bit longer. ✌

Lol. Nice. If I was going to put my name on those I'd finish them in a dehydrator, since you asked, I answered. Rock on dude, I see you've been here a while. That's a very small harvest able to be handled easily by cheap dehydrator with room to spare, quiet clearly.

this is good advice. I have an industrial dehydrator I found on kijiji, anything else would be too small to bother with. Build a big guy if you're gunna get into the hobby

Unless you're doing over a dry pound a week a American harvest dehydrator is already overkill
Two dry pounds a week probably get away with one dehydrator or just more trays.
Three dry a week get two dehydrators
4+ dry pounds a week get an Excalibur
8+ make a bulk dehydrator.

Just buggin bro, nothin but love. Ya that was a real small harvest and I have been here a minute. Getting back into things after a long time away... 🕊
I thought I had another 2 days and may have bought a dehydrator, I just really liked the homemade bigger setups.
After reading what Bod said, cuz hes the effing man , I'm gonna get one of the ones he suggested.

Why at least finish with a dehydrator?? They seem good...

Bod,  I don't know why it took me till recently to read through all your teks thoroughly.  I wish I just did that from the beginning it's all perfect. As you can see i started using your unmodified tub tek...but...

At the store the other day I  accidentally bought the Ultra Latch  instead of the Airtight. It only has one clasp on each side of the tub so when I flip  put the lid upside down  there's just one air slot in the center. The lid is so loose fitting it should be fine right?  I duct-taped it because the lid was warped and really didn't sit on sit on there well but still lots of FAE.

Also theres not condensation in the unmodified but there is in my modified ones, is this normal?

And yes I used liner....I dont know why just because it's been working.

Thanks everyone
