Is this cloning Tek suitable?
    #26088624 -

I have an old dried specimen that's about a year old and fairly small in size that I'm looking to work with and clone to agar. My question is, since it's the only viable looking stem and cap fully intact would this method below work for getting it to agar?

I was thinking about using an iodine prep pad to clean the outside of the dried fruit somewhere towards the top of the stem. Next I'd take a syringe that has a small amount of sterile water that was sucked up. I'd then flame sterilize the end and pretty much stab it right through the cleaned off spot to grab a small sample and with that I'd quickly transfer it to agar in a SAB by dropping a few drops into the agar dish.

Now I would go the route or taking a sample from the inside of the stem, but I'm concerned that hydrating the stem and cutting it would be troublesome since I'm not working with much of anything with the stem being the damn size of a toothpick.

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks!

Why do you want to clone it if its the size of a tooth pick?non cube? spores from the gills would be easier.

The only reason I'm going this route is because at the moment I'm not able to purchase a new print nor syringe spore culture.. so I've decided to give this idea a wack and see if I can resurrect one of my early grows with this lil guy. Now I know it wouldn't be wise to choose a small fruit to clone with, but honestly I believe the size corresponded more with the actual conditions I was using at the time and less so on the genetics.. hence why I still have it and this small amount I have in hand is still around and wasn't eaten with the rest. It would also prove this theory more than less cloning it and doing things right this time around then the previous attempt.

I did read up and the gills was the suggested part of the sample to use, but that part is hardly visible and this one lacks most of it.

I'm just trying to figure out if the method I mentioned is even worth trying as it cuts down on the hassle with trying to get a decent sample without handling it too much to the point of contamination or ruining any viable part of it. Or should I try your suggestion and attempt to get a toothpick tip sized piece of the the gill, and if so what method would you suggest?
