try grabbing a piece of the fuzzy stuff and putting it to agar. Maybe it is
mold but you wont know unless you can isolate what you think is mold. If it
is meshed with the culture, it's probably best to start over

That's briliant I hadn't thought of isolating the mold for a good look at it. Thanks! I've got a bunch of stuff from spores on the way. I'm excited to do some MS tubs and take clones.

Unless it's parasitic. My fuzz is always on top of and growing along with my myc, never showed up on my controls. I conede that I haven't attempted isolating the contam itself but it's always coming from the myc which leads me to think that it's likely parasitic. Also, I'm not trying to dissuade you from isolating the contam js.

I'm experiencing the same thing currently. Started from MS syringe and all of my plates are showing fuzzy growth mixed with rhizomorphic growth.

Did you ever find a way to circumvent this issue or did you just start over from a spore syringe?

What I'm finding is that I can't clean up dirty spore prints despite everyone saying how easy it is, and I am ridiculously careful taking spore prints. What has been working though is getting an MS culture clean enough to fruit then taking clones from the inside of the cap. It seems that embedded contams can't follow the mycelium all the way into the axenic tissue of the cap where it produces spores. Doing this and making a couple quick transfers on agar is getting me perfectly flat rhizomorphic plates... Then just KEEP THEM CLEAN and KEEP MULTIPLE BACKUPS.
