Store bought manure, for outside grow
    #26081379 -

So my local hardware store sells ~ 25-40 pound of what the bag claims to be straight cow manure. I've been trying so hard to have a successful outdoor grow, and wanted to see if this sounded viable or maybe even have input from actually attempting this or something similar.

Basically, my idea was to make a half gallon of liquid culture. I was planing on using the pressure cooker and honey/syrup mixture outlined in a tek here on shroomery that suggests 1 teaspoon per 200mLs of water. I'm not worried or really asking questions about the LC as I've made many and they are easy as whistling Dixie. My real questions begins and end with the bags of manure at my local hardware store. I wanted to dig a little patch of land up, roughly the same dimensions as the bad of the maure to a have a 1.5ft by 3ft rectangle about 4 inches deep. I wanted to level off the manure in this hole, I wanted to wet with 1/2  a gallon of LC  and maybe add and additional inch of coir/verm mixture. So that's the general idea. My questions are as follows
1. Will these bags grow the mycellium even if using exsessive liquid culture?
2. Would you bucket sterilize the manure first?
3. Would you pick a location under a tree for shade, or close to the house, like under a 4 ft height wooden deck with easy access to underneath?
4. I've tried with manure acquired online using grain spawn and it was a major failure due to contamination. But coir has a pretty good resistance. Would you colonize a brick of coir indoors and then thoroughly mixed the manure wither the coir for my best chances?
5. Is a casing necessary? If so would freshly cut grass clipping serve ro protect the poo and help keep the humidity level up?

Anything you would do different, add, or adjust to what I've outlined would be appreciated. I've failed several times, and I dont know the meaning of giving up. So this is past the point of, just do it indoors, this is man vs nature, and I want to come out on top. I want to wake up one morning and see the beautiful fruits that represent the time and effort and overcame obstacles that lead to that moment. Thanks!

if you just make spawn you will have luck. Stop trying to water shit with a lc.

I've used spawn twice, no luck. My questions are asked to hopefully get answers to help me from making the same mistakes

Maybe spawn would work if for instance under my deck is not a suitable location. That's why I asked about this. So if spawn is sufficient, will you look at my questions and see if the way I'm going about this is lacking in some other way. Maybe suggesting a spawn other than grains, or maybe I should bucket sterilize. As I haven't in the past. Would a casing layer help prevent green mold from taking over, should my pit be above ground or dug so that its level, would a dark spot in the side of the yard with tall grass around it work better. I understand I'm asking a lot. I e done so much research its sickening, and yet I keep failing.

My most recent patch is packed with good mycellium growth, none peaking to the surface, but even with endless ran and shade and a casing layer of coir it's not pining. I pulled one strand of straw out that was poking its head out, and it had myc growth from just beneath the surface, to 4 inches down. I've build a little chamber to put upside down over the patch with fae holes thinking the lack of tall grass is the reason I'm not growing fruit but it to is seemingly pointless.

1.no
2.no
3.deck sounds ok:shrug:
4.sure

regardless of indoor or outdoor beds you will need grain spawn of some kind at some point.

dumping lc into manure wont work. otherwise we would all be doing that.

So If the answer for one is no, then how could 4 be sure? I'm a bit confused. If the bags of manure at the hardware stores dont grow mycellium, then my whole post could have been answered with, that manure is treated(or whatever the case may be) so no matter how you go about doing it wont work. Coir spawn to real maure might work. I'm grateful for your responses, but I'm taking this very seriously, and a complete lack of details makes it hard for the information you've given me to be put to good use. But thank you all the same!

Is there a outdoor TEK that you stand by? One that is as tested and tried and true as, let's say the pf tek?

Whistle up some culture and put it to grains. Spawn the ditch with fully colonized grain and cover it up with manure, or coir, or hay, or grass, or dirt, or whatever. you will need spawn tho.

To easy? If that were the case, why doesnt everyone in southern usa do it? Pf TEK is almost fool proof, even in a moldy house, and there are hundreds of posts a month in regards to needing help. Dont know if you were just joking around with that comment, or being a dick. Thanks for the link, but leave your penis envy at home when talking to me little man.

Also I'm curious how anyone can help me and not know what mushroom I'm trying to grow?

When I get this figured out. I'll write up a Tek, include pictures and detailed information.

What I tried hasn't worked, true. My post is asking if my new plan seems plausible, if not why. And then went on to ask specific questions and numbered them.

^^^^^^^^^^^^see the question Mark's?  Those are questions  theres no need to respond, and if your a moderator you can close or delete this thread. I'm not here to argue, but when I express how hard I've worked at this, and to have someone basically say, people dont waste time writing tasks for something this easy, I took offense. Sorry for being a prick in return, as I'm better than that. My adrenaline started pumping and the next thing you know I'm trashing my own thread with insults and taking the focus off of the help I needed.

All jokes and cracks aside, I apologize for how I've reacted to the last few posts. We all enjoy the same hobby, so we at least have that in common. I'd like to put this behind us.

No. It's not plasuable. No one here is your personal research assistant and I already said what you need. Grain spawn. No getting around that part.

outside grow is seriously easy i dont see why you are trying to make this so complicated.

get some grain spawn and spawn it to the manure out doors lol.

if you are so set on liquid culture use it to start your grain spawn then spawn it to the manure under your shady tree or under your deck. thats really all there is to it.

my spent subs that are dumped in my yard have fruited without even doing anything to them.

I thought I already explained, my first two attempts were grain spawn. They molded over and destroyed all the mycellium. I'm not trying to make this difficult, definitely not asking for an assistant. Just asking for help. You suggest grain spawn, I said I failed at that twice, I asked for things I could do to increase my chances. But i just keep hearing use grain spawn.

As for liquid culture, that's what I was fixing to try, im not dead set on this. If I was I wouldn't ask if lc is viable.

Maybe my post was to big and intimidating, so skimming through seemed easier. Like I've said 3 times now. Close this thread, or delete it. I've got more experience than 80% of this sites users, years and years worth, but  your talking to me as if I am some noob who hasn't done my research. I've tried EVERYTHING. Maybe it's the snails and slugs that come by the hundred, maybe it's the fact that my deck has a slight green tinge of mold and its competing and winning the fight for colonization.

I was hoping someone with experience would chime in and ask questions like, " in my past outdoor grows snails lead to failed attempts, so I moved my grow under a tree, maybe that will help" or something that would give me something new to try. But really, if no one has a suggestion then I'll keep adjusting things until I find a sweet spot. I feel like I went from begging for help to arguing for help. If I want to argue, I'll post on youtube videos lol. I come here to learn.

As for spent substrates, anyone can throw them in a pile and grow a couple mushrooms. I'm trying to have a 1.5 ft by 3 ft fully colonized outdoor grow that will produce 3-5 flushes. Big difference.

i your grain molded over before a flush then your grain isnt clean.

work on yoru grain tek.

or perhaps your soil is extremely moldy. trich spore are everywhere. literally everywhere. have you tried colonizing a substrate indoors in a controlled enbviroment then spawning that to manure, as if you were dumping a spent sub?

that should tell if you are having a grain problem or envriomental issues outdoors.

I haven't. I really wanted to have the entire process be an outdoor thing. But I can live with that. It crosses my mind to use coir because in my experience its extremely hard to get contaminates. For 20 pounds of manure would you suggest 4 pints, or more like 4 quarts? Thanks so much for the reply, bouncing ideas back and forth really helps me step outside of my though process and analyze new ideas.

Have you ever used agave nectar for LC? If not, do you see any reason it wouldn't work?

that seems like an awful little.

i spawn 5 quarts to one hydrated brick of coco and two quarts vermiculite.

youd have to figure out how many quarts are in a pound and then you can figure out the ratio of how much spawn youll need.

i dont see why agave nectar wouldnt work but ive never used it personally. i have used something called king syrup which is like an off brand karo light corn syrup and that has worked well for me in the past.  i would try agave nectar if you have it already at the standard 4% syrup to water

Already pressure cooked it for 30 min, let it cool to room temp and inoculated  what I'll do is make as much substrate as I have the supplies for. And just match that with manure, meaning I dont have to use all the manure.

If I have any more questions down the road, I'll ask it here. But I got things from here, I appreciate all your help bud!
